2x RX 480

Same price as a 1070, performance of a 1080. You have the PSU to power it
>>
>>55093176
I should be getting the Cougar Ncase Ripoff (QBX) and zen around christmas time, that should bring some variety to the thread
>>
>>55093174
To stop the gpu from sacking. Put ziptie on the gpu (any hole on the backplate, heatsink or pcb even) to the corner closest to mobo and tie it to the case tightly, so that it doesnt hang freely.
>>
>>55093155

Neither, until you start seeing 1070's and 1080's for a decent price. (350 and 550) instead of (450 and 699)

Hey, RX480's are 60c maxed out on stock heatsink, get double the performance of a 780 :P

And dual CPU mobos usually only have one x16 slot

What CPUs do you have?

lots of features though. Properly supports ATX PSUs, 4 2.5" drive slots, slimline CD drive, 3.5" drive slot, 370mm GPU support and 5 120mm fan slots.

only £35 too, 6x cheaper than the ncase

The Ncase does a lot of that, but like you said, at 6x the cost.

>>
>>55094497
Ncase has a big of a dodgy way of supporting ATX PSUs, it was obviously designed for SFX. The cougar is designed for ATX
>>
>>55094497

oh yeah and much more, it's an obviously superior case in every way but I can't afford a £250 case when I can get a chink ripoff that actually isn't shit for £35. I'm used to crap cases, I've had 2 zalmans

also, the board has 4x 16 lanes and 3x 8 lanes.

And its running 2670's
>>
>>55084283
I just saw this reply, the answer is no, I don't have side panel fans.
Only fans in my build are PSU, GPU, and the one on the m9i.
>>
>>55094886
So the same as the Ncase, then.
>>
>>55095097
It can support bigger with smaller GPUs

It also doesn't seem like an afterthought, like with the Ncase
>>
>>55095097
I think the Cougar can support modular 140mm PSUs with a long GPU, whereas the M1 can't.

>>55095111
The M1 was designed for SFX PSUs first and foremost; ATX support was added by request during development because it was possible to do without affecting the dimensions.
>>
>>55095111
The Ncase supports longer psus with short gpus too.
I used to have a 160mm modular + evga 750ti in mine.
I'm pretty sure someone fit a 180/190mm non modular PSU in It for giggles once too.

Also that red and blue cable could have the bundle moved to one end or the other so it's less obvious.

480

the 470 firestrike scores have been released, and it equals a 970. should be £110/$150

480 equals 980/1070 for $199/£150
>>
>>55096471
Yeah really considering it.
I game on a 1080p 60hz monitor, but when I feel like lounging, I hook it up to my 4K TV so something with a bit more of a punch might suit me better though.
>>
>>55096518
by the looks of things, double RX 480 8gb seems to be a better option than a single 1080. If the firestrike benchmarks transfer into games AMD owns this generation. A single 480 is perfect for 1080p 60hz at max settings
>>
>>55096549
Yeah maybe that's the way to go then, thanks. Any word on a commercial release date?
AMD has that virtual super resolution thing that ups the resolution to 1440p somehow. What's that about? I'd be arsed if I could see the difference desu, other then a slight framer rate hit.

I was thinking about waiting until MX has the GTX1080 off of back-order, and at a more competitive price

The selection of attractive InWin cases at MX is fairly limited, sadly. It could also be that I'm just not too fond of their aesthetic.

It's obviously a cheap as fuck system, that;s why he is going AMD anon
>>
>>55100437
Oh both my dell monitors are analog and the 780 only has one analog connection, so I have one monitor hooked up to the 650 and I am using it as a dedicated PhysX card. After running some tests though I have found that in some games with demanding PhysX it actually brings down performance so I am right now trying to figure out if overclocking the 650 will benefit the PhysX performance.

alienware x51 r2
i7-4770 3.5 GHz / Turbo Boost up to 3.9 GHz
1 TB seagate sshd
16 GB 1600mhz DDR3 Kingston HyperX FURY
330W external powerbrick

i could run GTX1080 in it but im cheap, waiting for rx480 then ill save up for 1080 when price drops.
>>
>>55100641
the 480 should be fast
>>
>>55097867
Yeah the S340. I like it a lot; it's a quality-feeling modern design. Have fairly now temps, so airflow is decent.
Apparently the H440 is a better mid tower also from NZXT... But I actually preferred the way this one looks
>>
>>55100552
It won't help, trust me.

Ya ran a couple tests and over clocks don't seem to help, I was reading some articles about running dedicated PhysX card, seems it's only beneficial if the card can handle the PhysX for said game, the 650 I am using falls short in Batman so far. I mainly wanted it to boost performance in Fallout 4 when I switch to a 1440p monitor. I still need it to run all of my monitors though. I might just go buy a 27 inch 1080p that is on sale right now and ditch one of the dells.

Could hide cables better and also woould suggest if you can routing the cpu cable under the gpu or something. Looks odd going over it.

I really need to take a new pic soon, nothing has changed sans moar ram. My GS3 just has such a shitty camera...
>>
>>55101275
Anything you recommend changing before booting back up? Once everything is plugged back in ofc. This was my first build. Decided the "good enough for now" cables weren't good enough any more.
>>
>>55101420
I would say the front panel connectors could be better routed but can only do so much.

>>
>>55101612
How them temps at load? Also is that a Nano?
>>
>>55102072
With a custom fan curve: pretty good, no more than 75-79C. The biggest concern is the CPU temps which can get pretty up there when running GTA5. Need a better CPU cooler with a bigger heatsink. The L9i is great though. Oh and yes it's nano.

Looks pretty Allright. Is that a 500r case? You can remove that unused hdd cage for better airflow. I like that the ram matches the vrms.
Is that yellow tag in the top necessary?
Cable management is like 8/10.
Overall pretty good guts.

Yep, you got a good eye. This is actually an older pic but I recently removed the cage you're talking about. Definitely helped the 980's temps.

This build used to match a lot better (had a 970 ssc in there with the blue highlights - see pic) but when the 3.5 fiasco happened I returned it for a 980 FTW. If you want to be as sperg as I am regarding colors, the "FTW" tag hidden behind the power cables is blue. heh.

I was thinking of replacing the fans for the blue Corsair fans, but when I got rid of the 970 I said meh.

I turned pic related into
>>55101242. Still not pretty but it's improved considerably. I didn't color coordinate at all when I bought the parts, but I should have bought silver ram to match gpu and vrm. Hyper 212 evo coming soon.

that's a lot better. All the cables sat in the bottom, just shove them behind the mobo tray

looks good. tuck that random fan connector away, make the Front Panel Audio cable hug the side of the case, and take out the un-used hard drive.

Good job on the USB3 and MoBo cable

No the anon you were replying to, but I believe that random fan connector poking out is for the large fan on the side panel that comes with the case.

Anyone have any suggestions? Work in progress, probably going to add some white lighting. My CPU power on the mobo is an a really awkward spot so cable management is kinda poor
