But virtualbox is more likely to "just werk" with applications made after 2002

if it doesnt require 2d/3d acceleration its obviously virtualbox - you cant rekt your linux host from a guest system. With wine you can get all kinds of shit from .exe files, also usually the stability is affected. but if you want to play simple/older games or use 3D software you need wine ,if its compatible. how the fuck this deserves a thread?
