So a bunch of "specialists in ergonomic design" visited our office today.

They said that we should put our screens at the lowest positon possible. I have some difficulties accepting that /g/, so in the end what is a "good monitor height" ?

I don't doubt their words, it's just that if i do that my neck will be looking down.
>>
don't listen to them they are shills for chiropractors and are setting you up for texting neck
>>
>>55055982
looking slightly down keeps your overall posture straighter

I've researched the subject - because I wanted to at least minimize health impairments, and what I discovered it's that the best for health ( which also happens to be the most comfortable for me ) is to mainly have your chair on the most comfortable position - keep a straight back and make sure tat the line of your sight it's 3 - 5 cm under the monitor.

Like pic related, the version on your pic - I've tried that for weeks, it's fucking uncomfortable - seems cool first days but it's very annoying.

>They said that we should put our screens at the lowest positon possible.
I was always told the top of the monitor should be level with your eyes.
>>
>>55055926
>>55055982

I have my monitor set up the same way the chick from the pic has it (Eizo master race as well), not because some specialist told me, but because I figured that works best for me. Looking down (with your eyeballs, not your fucking neck) is easier on eye musles than looking up or straight ahead. When reading a book, I don't fucking hold it in front of my face either.

>i can't accept expert advice
they are right, you egotistical dipshit
>>
>the lowest positon possible

you want it below eye level but not "lowest possible" that would be kinda like having it the highest possible. you want to be relaxed and if you have to put effort into looking above or below, then it's not a good monitor height.

what is the source of those people though?
so far I usually read top of monitor should be on eye level.

honestly most of these "how to sit" guides are flawed in the sense that they say this is the ONE posture you're supposed to be in for the entire time you're sitting. that's some rookie mistake shit right here.
my experience so far is that muscles get fucked if you keep a load (like your bodyweight) at the same spot for long periods of time. however if I constantly switch my posture, I can sit here and shitpost all day.

be water, my friend.

R8. I rose it because my desk is really low and i am tall. Also, so i could stop bending my back to look at the monitor on desk.

Bad comparison because you hold a book with your arms and you would get tired

What's the difference between expert and idiot assumptions?

How would you test which sitting posture is the healthiest?

Whatever position keeps you in as good of a relaxed posture as possible while not blowing your back out

Looking down is almost always worse, you'll just arch your back naturally until it hurts in a few years and then want to hang yourself

You can now sue your company! Be sure to call you doctor today and complain of neck pain. A few doctors visits and a lawyer's visit and you'll be on easy street!

>>
I sit barely two feet away from a 40inch monitor whose stand is about level with my saggy manboobs when I'm sat down, I have to move my head around to see it all and idgaf son u a pussy
>>
>>55057063
Only reason I asked is because my place has some ergonomic specialists coming in this week too
>>
>>55055926
Eyes in line with the top of your monitor. You look down slihtly, but not a lot.
>>
>>55056113
I sit exactly like your picture
>>
I've been told that the screen should be two-thirds under your eye line

I am doing it this ways. The size is kinda incorrect in pic related, but my monitors are higher up than my eyes and I am like laying back. At work it is the same, I don't give a fuck about how to sit. Been doing this for like 18 years now and never had problems. pfft niggas.
>>
How fucked are we all going to be in 20 years and how many painkillers will we be taking to barely handle the pain?
>>
>>55056028
This is the correct answer
>>
>>55056113
This is how I got a pilonidal cyst. Nasty shit. Don't sit on your tailbone.
>>
>>55055926
Prolonged sitting has always been uncomfortable for me, and always makes my legs fall asleep. The only remedy was slouching in chairs or resting my upper body on the table/desk, to reduce the load on my legs. Doing that throughout 12 years of school got me some nasty hyperlordosis.
I really wish schools would take ergonomics into account, and not fit classrooms with one-size-fits-all desks and chairs. And provide puplis the options to use standing desks.
