Unfortunately hackintosh is still not adequate. That I must have performance issues with opengl that I won't experience on linux turns me off. I just dislike how people say "280x works, 280x works" and it's just that it really barely fucking does.

280x works on linux just fine. All it needs is DRI3 enabled. Performance with games for instance just goes through the roof once that's done and no heavy compositors are being used. Hell in OSX I can't even fucking play GZDoom well. that shit will drop from 300 to 30 fps when both Windows and Linux can manage over 1000 at all times. Almost anything that doesn't have vsync enabled plays like utter shit.
And the desktop is kinda laggy too. Animations like switching between desktops will stutter from time to time.
