You didn't mount the drive? Just mounted in the Window on the right? Permissions are a safety feature. If users had access to /mount malware could more easily jump across the network.

GTK is a steaming pile of disgusting, unusable, developer-unfriendly shit built of layers upon layers upon layers of dirty hacks. Fuck, even Linus, a known C++ hater, switched his Subsufrace project to Qt because he couldn't suffer the frustration anymore.

Fortunately, GTK is now dying its long overdue death (with like two lonely neckbeard developers left) and soon we'll finally have a unified UI experience on Linux with way superior and cleaner framework Qt is.
