What's so great about displayport anyways? I've heard a lot of talk about it lately. I only used VGA and DVI after composite, saving my consoles which were HDMI, so I've never had any interactions with it. I hear it's required for the new sync stuff on the monitors? Haven't changed mine since 2010 or so.

It's free as in freedom.

So are most ports not found on apple devices though.

High bandwidth without the latency of HDMI, daisy-chaining, etc.

HDMI isn't free.

it's literally the best at EVERYTHING

in what way?

It costs a buck o' five.

In that you have to pay royalties to implement it.

How is it better than DVI?

Displayport is HDMI without the patents for the most part.

You must have a shitty monitor/OS/GPU/whatever, this doesn't happen to me.

>>55037265
If I had a multimonitor setup this is something I wouldn't be able to tolerate.

DP can also do everything HDMI can and even more so. HDMI is literally only alive because of who's on the board for it.

Any of you /g/ents have some 4k monitor or tv recommendations that use display port. I'm looking for 39"+

Dual link DVI maxes out at 4k@33hz
>>
>>55037411
Phillips BDM4065UC , but it looks like the price has hiked to hell.

It's hard to find a 39" + 4k that has DP 1.3, which is what you need for 60hz @ 4k and is a must as 30hz is just not bearable.
>>
>>55037265

Why not put it into standby? Most new monitors have very low power usage on standby these days.

Sounds like it's on a mission from God.
