So guys, do you use spaces or tabs?

Cuck

I prefer tabs. In my opinion it lets anyone use IDE settings to set the indent depth they prefer.
My colleagues all use 4 spaces though, so had to change at work so we're consistent.

What this fag said.
It's a good show.
tabs for indent, spaces for alignment
but who actually repeatedly presses the space bar (like the show portrayed) instead of just setting their editor to insert spaces when pressing tab?
Depends.
Some languages are not that verbose, and for those, tabs are preferable as you can adjust the width per editor basis.
If you really need to align stuff (which is rare) then you use spaces beyond the tabs.
On verbose languages, I prefer spaces.
There you manually align everything anyway, so you might as well do it correctly so it doesn't break on other editors that use a different tab setting.
I mainly work with c++ and vhdl.
vhdl is horrible if you only use tabs

I think it was just for the show. Nobody would ever do that.

Smart tabs (tabs for block indentation, spaces for everything else)
Anyone who's not using this is braindead

Started college this year, now being taught pascal. Everyone uses shitty IDEs (see also: any IDE that isn't Sublime Text) and even though some allow tabbing EVERYONE fucking multi-spaces manually, which is annoying
>>54979938
jesus, thats like using vim over emax
how come people always bait into those shill threads.
its obvioulsy makreting for the fucking tv show retards. they'll make the same fucking thread next week too

Starbucks is not a college
Also, the girl in the show used Vim, so she really should have known better - hell, even "8i <Esc>" would be better
neither. I put every token on its own line.

There are no starbucks in my country, I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing.
I wasn't being all that serious anyways, just think it's a great IDE for people learning (like me) since it's fast, and plugins like package control make customizing it to your needs.. dunno if easy, but a less complicated than it tends to be for other IDEs like meemacs
>>54980490
and that would indicate nested blocks how?
