This separation brings nothing good.

LibreOffice - small amount of tutorials, larger commmunity

Isn't OpenOffice dead?
>>
>>54962042
I used to quite like OpenOffice but with Office 365 only costing £20 a year I picked up 3 years worth and it gives me 5TB (1tb for 5 accounts) of onedrive storage and 60 mins of skype a month which is handy for my gf to call her parents in peru. plus no document compatibility issues.

shame as openoffice was pretty based for a while

Hahaha ha ha hah ahahahahwghawhghg hghgh.
>>

does open office still exist?
>>
>>54962113
>and 60 mins of skype a month
What? Skype is paid now?
>>
>>54962079
OpenOffice.org is dead, Apache OpenOffice is the successor to it. LibreOffice is the successor to the Go-oo-builds of OpenOffice.org.
>>
>>54962042
you act as if OO is still alive
>>
>>54962113
That's what you get for ordering your girlfriend from a catalogue.

For phone calls yes, as it has always been
>>
>>54962313
I think they mean 60 mins of calls to phone lines, which is paif
>>
>>54962313
To call real phones you need credit
>>
I actually prefer open office to libre.
>>
>>54962302

yeah. it took a few different directions after the schism. it's now oracle ware and as such there's no incentive for community development or engagement. star office was killed. seeing open office in the same sentence as "lotus notes" will tell you what you need to know in any case. OP is literally retarded and hasn't so much as looked at the wikipedia article. Libre Office is the only one worth using.
>>
>>54962042
Do they still hide malware in their setup files?
>>
>>54962313
probably calls to cellphones
>>
man what a clusterfuck
>>
>>54962042
why do you need tutorials for that
>>
>>54962327
I have encountered a bug in LO Base and wanted to double check if it existed in OO too. It wasn't there. I then installed LO Fresh and the bug was fixed.
>>
>>54962384

don't bother with apache's open office. also, who the fuck needs tutorials for your word processor? how stupid are you?

For an open souce project that's pretty Good actually.

Worth using while having to read documentation published on OpenOffice website? While having to browse the API in OpenOffice because it's only there that information is properly given? While having to read their stalling forums because it's only there that people ask relevant questions?
>>
>>54962409
I need to do more than just word processing.
>>
>>54962520
like what
>>
>>54962535
I'm making a form in Base connected to an sqlite database and writing a few macros because form-subform relations aren't enough. I'm doing this for the first time too, so that information is really useful for me.
>>

It's kinda impressive how at their peak there was 5 active forks of openoffice with dissimilar features.
>>
>>54962042
when becomes irrelevant with respect to real competition, starts to multiply causing noise, contradictions and confusion. classical OSS.
>>
>>54962113
>but with Office 365 only costing £20 a year

Office 2013/16 professional (or standard [less bloat]) VL + microsoft toolkit (autokms) and you are set for life.
>>
>>54962042
oracle bought open, and refuse to update it in a meaningful way.

the original creators built libre, which is the same thing but better cause it is still updated.

as for the folks with document issues. learn to save yo shit in a windows format before you try to load it in microsoft office dumbass. my libre has no compatability issues thus far

>>54962042
Welcome to the world of open sores, Where everything is forked and forked again until it's completely unusable garbage.
>>
>>54962042
They both have a pretty paltry community when it comes to the Microsoft Office though. It doesn't make much of a difference.

remember how much people hated it when it was first shown?

not really, but it is absolutely amazing and must have thing for me

I worked in libreoffice, it feels bothersome to hunt stuff in menus that close on you after you make use of something...

There are no other FOSS tools available for Windows to do this.

lol. FOSS tools and windows. you have many options. cygwin. virtualize linux. pirate or trial non-foss tools. your problems are of your own creation
