So I just installed Chrome for the first time in a couple of years...

and it is fucking fast! I thought Firefox with e10s was quick but Chrome is close to fucking instant at loading pages. I guess it does some kind of aggressive pre-loading or something? Anyway I am torn now between using the botnet browser for speed of firefox for extensions and less botnet.

What browser do you use /g/ ?
>>
>>54961974
Opera on Windows
Chromium on Linux

there is no particular reason why
>>
>>54961974
/g/ uses the non-botnet browser.

Also
>freshly installed copy of a browser is faster than one that has been installed for years and lots of add-ons and custom themes
>wow
>>
>>54962758
actually I tested it against a clean profile with firefox 47. both browsers with just ublock origin as the extension.
>>
>aggressive pre-loading

Yes, it preloads shit from links in pages whether you want them or not thereby wasting bandwidth - and don't come back with the "I have <whatever> bandwidth, I don't fucking care..." because that's the stupid fucking person retort.

>stupid fucking people will be the death of us all
>>
>>54962995
not him, but if you have a lot of bandwidth, why not sacrifice some for speed?
It can't hurt
>>
>>54962995
what is wrong with preloading? i am going to be "the stupid fucking person" and say "but i have 500Mbps internet why the fuck not make use of it?"
>>
>>54962995
what browsers dont do this?

For some reason Chrome is has a really slow connection on my Windows 10 desktop. I don't know why because I don't have any proxy or network settings changed. Hell, Chrome works just fine on my Windows 7 laptop.
>>
>>54962995
why the fuck does it matter? If you are downloading a whole bunch of shit all the time then yeah. But that's just one case, you caan use a different browser while download. In any case it doesn't use THAT much bandwidth. Fucking retarded ass linux basement dwelling idiot
>>
Firefox looks better to me and has a better layout, in my opinion, but Chrome does seem to run faster for me.
>>
>>54962995
Doesn't ublock disable preloading though?

Brave is even faster, it's gonna be the shit once it gets more polished
>>
FF for the extensions of course
I don't care about the two milliseconds difference in loading

It's not particularly faster than other modern browsers. Firefox is the one that's dog slow in comparison.
>>
>>54962882
Test it with some non google site ansd compare the results
>>
>>54965173
i didnt test with google actually. i used bbc news, the verge and daily mail as they are content heavy and usually make firefox slugish for a few seconds. then 4chan, reddit (lel), facebook, youtube, etc every site i tried loaded faster in chrome both the first time and then on a reload from cache.
>>
I like chrome but smaller font sizes look a little strange. Im on win10, any tips?
>>
>>54965248
Look at the ram consumption you shill.
Also show proof
>>
>>54965410
ram is roughly the same as firefox with e10s enabled. anyway i have 16gb of ram so it isnt like i care about a tab using 50mb more in chrome lol.

if you want proof just fucking install chrome and test it out yourself
>>
>>54965121
Thats because 'rest all the browsers' are just Chrome clones Chrome itself being a Konquerer clone that evolved
>>
>>54965452
Hey when you tell me that something is true its your job to prove.I tested it a long ago and all I saw was a slightly more speed for other browser(1 or 2 seconds delay) and insta speed for Google sites(They are obviuosly optimised specially for that browser).
So post fucking proof

I have 64GBs of RAM.
Don't settle for 8GBs, it isn't enough.
16GB is barely enough.
Be mad poor fag.
Chrome only uses 400MB of RAM peak anyways.

I post a link here with a lot of CP, boom, you're on the FBI list because Chrome preloaded that link.

>>54963335
You can change that. Simple box to uncheck.

I can also connect a monitor and USB keyboard/mouse, kek.

It originally runs Hildon, witch is also installed.
>>
>>54966150
not with a physical keyboard and stylus it aint
>>
>>54962995
Firefox does that too.

GIMP (as seen on that Nokia phone) was designed for a much larger screen. I can't even imagine how it would look with all of the controls shown.

Running GIMP on the actual Hildon desktop is grea. The side panels are fulls screen and you can switch to them and back with a single button press.

But probably never going to actually use it for GIMP or anything like that, just a fun toy.

Does remind me of the days when you could actually crack WiFi and steal Facebook passwords with it.

I went over to Chrome too, fuck Firefox was pissing me off with being a slow fucking ass even on a SSD on a 4.8GHz 8 core CPU with 16GB of RAM.
I don't care about the NSA anymore, I don't live in a fucking crowd controlled country anyways, Chrome actually works after you shit fucking mess half an hour getting the font rendering as nice as Firefox, but after that, it's OK.

Also, no fucking stuck tabs for 2 seconds while one page is loading in the background.
