this is fine AS long as you let it dry after

i do this before EVERY summer

i let it dry for 2 days on rooftop

the benefits of doing this are ENDLESS
>>
>>54960379
With the hardware you got in there it wouldn't matter anyway
>>
I know this is fine, and would probably really help my computer. But not a chance in hell I'm about to do it.
>>
>waiting 2 days
Anyone else trying this, don't listen to this retard. It only takes 5 minutes to dry.
>>
>>54960421
Just put it in an oven at 200 °C for a few minutes.

guys...does throwing pc in the sea work d same?
>>
Okay, just take the battery out first. Probably should dry it with a blow drier if you don't have compressed air. Wouldn't want the case to rust. Also distilled would be the water to use. Minerals can corrode the circuit paths.
>>
>>54960421
>implying
Any electronics manufactured in the past 5 years have a coat of protective plastic over the traces. You could do that while your PC is running and it wouldn't even matter.
>>
This is what I've done for years, except I bake my parts in an oven at 170F. Been running strong for 3 years and still looks brand new as a result. I've done it to other computers that were dead or sat out in the weather, and I've revived a few just by doing that.
>>
>>54960481
True, but I wouldn't want someone with older hardware to accidentally ruin it, so it's better to stay on the safe side if unsure and just wait the 5 minutes
>>
If it was distilled water I might give a shit

Enjoy your corrosion or lime scale build up OP
>>
>>54960379
this, as long as you don't soap it there is no problem.
>>
>Mixing electronics with water
I'll just stick to alcohol baths thank you very much
>>
>>54960481
They do not conformally coat every PCB used and you definitely could not do it because they definitely do not conformally coat SMDs or DIPs.
>>
>>54960537
>still believing that the kind of voltage flowing in modern electronics can be conducted by water
What the fuck happened? This is middle-school physics at best for god's sake.
>>
WHAT ABOUT THE MINERALS
>>
>>54960459
No, salt water is harmful to PC components.

wear and tear removes gold plating over time. also see >>54960871

this.

most underage memeposters here think it's funny but if you do it with non-acidic distilled water nothing will happen. I don't think there's any water-soluble components on a computer. It wouldn't make sense.

I don't know how much damage regular tap water can do but I don't think it's impossible to have your computer washed and survive it.
>>
>>54960963
>wear and tear
Do you take your computer apart every time you turn it off or something?
>>
>>54961022
moot point, see >>54960871

Submerged mineral oil build, mineral oil is non conductive.
With good circulation you don't even need a heat sink on the cpu.
Everything will run at slightly above room temp no matter what the load with a good radiator.
>>
>>54961045
>With good circulation you don't even need a fan on the heatsink
FTFY
>>
>>54960683
What about them? Humans needs minerals (and vitamins), computers are designed intelligently by MAN, QED Computers need minerals.
Are you even trying? I bet you've had a bunch of failed drives from not supplying your systems with water, vitamins and minerals.
>ishygddt no water and vitamins meme on your meme systems.
>>
>>54960728
That is mineral oil, not water.
>>
>>54961112
distilled water also works but not as good.
