New Radeon driver!!!
Crimson Edition 16.6.1 Hotfix

Fixed 16.5.3 shit.

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+10+-+64
>>
>>54946782
but what does it break?
>>
What was the issue that was fixed?
>>
>>54946782
Fixed:
>AMD Radeon™ Fury Series may experience corruption on desktop when system is idle for an extended period of time.

AMD COME ON I MEAN GOD DAMN
>>
Aaaand FRTC still doesn't seem to be fixed.
>>
>>54946845
It only fixed it for those who were affected, which may not have been all Fury users.

Like they kept fixing the cursor corruption or the corner scroll bug too, but I've never experienced either of those bugs despite being on AMD cards since the 3k series....
>>
>>54946799
Lets find out!

>>54946822
See
>>54946845

>>54946859
FRTC worked fine on 16.5.3 on me, suing it with FreeSync, haven't tried it yet with this one.

Hope they are working drivers, 16.5.3 where the first ones with Doom support
>>
>>54946782
Jesus christ I was just dicking around with installing and uninstalling drivers and just went back to 16.5.1, I'm pretty sure 16.5.3 broke The Sims 4 for me

Inb4 >The Sims 4, fuck you it's fun
>>
>>54946871
It ain't working for me on a 280x
>>
>>54946875
I used 16.5.1 for a while too because the fucking 16.5.3 drivers.
>>
>>54946885
I had black flickering when scrolling in my browser on 16.5.3, I wonder if this hotfix even fixed that

I'm seriously questioning getting the RX480 if they don't get their shit together with the drivers for that card
>>
>>54946884
Just tried Fallout 4 and Witcher 3, both work with framerate target 75FPS, not going over it.
>>
>>54946900
AMD can't into Chrome

Use Firefox
>>
>>54946900
Same, but it was the first time I had such shit with AMD drivers.

>>54946912
It was with Firefox

I've yet to experience a single bug with edge, meanwhile both AMD and NVidia have had bugs with foxfire and botnet.

I think the browser black window bug is fixed, I could not watch youtube at all with 16.5.3 but now it works.
>>
>>54947016
Do I need to uninstall the previous version first? I'm trying to do the thing the website says, by uninstalling uisng AMD Install manager but it won't appear in my list of installed programs.
>>
>>54947034
It's AMD after all, don't forget that
>>

It will work without uninstalling.
It will automatically uninstall the old one before installing the new one.

Gaming evolved is great. I use it to optimize all my video games.

How much of this stuff do I actually need? And why is the version for the AMD display driver not the same version as the one I downloaded? It seemed to install something after a few seconds, then this window appeared. What should I do?

Forgot pic, fuck. It clearly says 16.2 next to AMD Display Driver but the driver I downloaded was 16.6.1, so what the fuck is going on? Like I said it said it was installing something before this window popped up. I've never had an AMD card before so I'm not sure what most of this is. The last card I had was an Nvidia one that was 7 years old.
>>
>>54947183
16.6.1 is Radeon Software bundle with driver
16.20 is the driver version, don't worry about it.
>>
>>54946993
This >>54947016
Always do a clean install. Remove your drivers by selecting AMD install manager through add or remove programs and reboot. Then delete any old AMD driver folders (default path is C:\AMD). Install the new driver .exe you got from the AMD site and reboot again.
When you install the new driver make sure to uncheck the raptr/gaming evolved app since it can really fuck up some games and performance.
>>
>>54947183
>>54947161
Don't install Gaming Evolved app, and HDMI audio only if you use audio over HDMI, install all other shit.
>>
>>54947183
Not sure what you mean. That's what it's trying to install. Uncheck "Gaming Evolved", it's bloat.
>>
>>54947183
All you need is the display driver, acp application, amd settings. HDMI audio driver is useless if you're already on Intel's and the gaming evolved app/raptr are pointless.
>>
>>54947201
So install all this shit?

>>54947213
AMD Install manager doesn't appear in my list on add/remove programs.

>>54947222
I don't use any HDMI cables with my headset if that's what you mean. Just regular old 2.5mm jacks.
>>
>>54947252

hdmi would be speakers coming from your monitor
>>
>>54947252
Don't install Gaming Evolved and HDMI then, install everything else.

What do I do if the install manager isn't in add/remove programs??
>>
>>54947374
Don't worry about it, when you start the installer it will ask if you want to remove old drivers, so do that, then restart and then run the installer again and install new ones.
>>
>>54946912
Answer is hardware acceleration. Just disable it on browsers if you're having flickering. Not everyone has the issue, but some do. Might need DDU and then reinstall driver.

Based AMD, they really made a good decision with designing a long-term architecture instead of shitting a new one out every other year like Nvidia
>>

I think its fixed in 16.6.1 anyways
>>
>>54946859
Use Rivatuner to limit fps, dumbass. It does a better job too since it limits fps in the objectively correct way: by executing a wait loop on the CPU and not whatever meme method AMD are using in their drivers.

the fact you still have to completely remove the AMD drivers before installing a new one is batshit insane. Holy fuck AMD fix your drivers already, it's been 20 years.
>>
>>54947765
The AMD version works fine, so it might be a per card thing then driver.
Also RivaTuner is no better then v-sync, just at a custom value, it still has input lag, useless for FreeSync use.
>>
>>54947828
Never done it, but I know it's recommended with any drive install, video, graphics, etc, be it AMD or Nvidia.

You know, bloat in Windows registry, SuperFetch not clearning out old drivers, etc. Not a driver issue.
You should know things like that.
>>
>>54947828
It's not just AMD, it's Nvidia as well. It's why DDU exists.

Woah, that fucking sucks. I had the same problem with 16.5.3 but have been using 16.6.1 now for hours already, running firefox hardware acelerated. No problems.
I wonder what's the thing that's messing up the shit, 16.5.3 did change something to get Doom running at full speed.
>>
>>54949206
this is weird i'm pretty sure that this issue was happening on all firefox version with the previous drivers (16.5.x) but now with the 16.6.1 it not happening on firefox stable anymore but firefox developer edition keeps doing it (clean profile).

well at least now i know how to trigger the bug, i was working on a web was triggering this issue a lot sometimes just scrolling but most time when Ctrl + Wheel to zoom some elements.

so i removed parts of the webs till the issue stopped and i discovered that it's caused by fixed elements (a panel in my case).

So webs like this one:
http://demos.jquerymobile.com/1.4.5/panel-fixed/
should trigger the black screen bug if you use Ctrl + mouse wheel a few times. (don't know why sometimes it takes more than a minute to trigger the issue)

Happens on dev and nightly but dev is harder to trigger, (maybe the issue can't be triggered on dev using that url).

So?? Is this worth upgrading to, or should I keep my old version?

I've lost all faith in AMD with their new driver set. I just posted this in their help forums, but would you guys have any suggestions? Rip on my all you want for my Alienware, but can any of you suggest a fix?
"So about three months ago I downloaded the latest AMD Crimson Beta driver for my Alienware m17x laptop with a 6970M card in it, and from that point on I have not been able to use my computer due to black screen issues. Hardware tests report that the card is fine.

I have tried installing the manufacturer supplied driver (from 2011), the newest AMD legacy driver, and the newest AMD beta driver for my card. The first two black out during install and after a hard reset proceed to be blacked out at boot, leaving me to go to safe mode to uninstall them. The latest beta driver typically works for about three minutes past boot before having a BSOD with a thread stuck problem.
I have tried installing the manufacturer supplied Intel HD driver, the latest Intel HD driver form the Intel site, and the Windows 10 auto installed Intel HD driver. They all seem to work for the Intel graphics chip.
I have tried installing the Intel and AMD drivers in different combinations. If the Intel one is installed first, then the AMD installer usually blacks out halfway through. If the AMD one goes first, it usually finishes but reports that there is a problem with the device. After that I would install the Intel driver and I will have the same black screen problem. The Intel driver by itself performs fine.
I have been using the AMD driver cleanup utility and DDU tool to do uninstall of drivers.
I have tried installing drivers with my antivirus both on and off.
I have tried disabled Windows 10 auto update for AMD drivers so they will not get overwritten.
I have tried installing on different motherboard bios versions.
I have even done a fresh install of Windows 10 (which my system was running fine on with previous AMD drivers)"
>>
I can't install them, It throws this error:

"AMD Detection driver erro. Contact AMD for support."

I have cleaned drivers with DDU and older drivers can be installed, but not this one.
