So, which one got you? The hinges, overheating or just the general build quality?

Steelseries Siberia headset. The usb amp was dogshit and had no static protection. Headset was pretty decent though

Moved to V-Modas and an O2 amp/dac combo soon after

I was at AT&T and I let them convince me to start paying $80/mo for it on their service. Everything about this conflicts with my better judgement.

Now I'm dealing with how stupid I feel until it's paid off so I can never have anything to do with AT&T again.

A brand new Asus ROG laptop a few years ago. Used it for watching YouTube in my recliner, still used my desktop PC for gaming. I could have gotten same value from a netbook but instead I spent 1700 on a laptop that collected dust.

Tech related: The Wacom Bamboo tablet I bought 4 years ago. I never use it.
Non-tech related: Pic related. It's not a bad figure but the manga ending sucked and I was never too much in the series anyway.

I think I fried the graphics card. Haven't had the time to try ripping it out yet. It doesn't boot, which tells me I just need to try ripping stuff out until I find what stopped working

Yes, I'm a fool. The HTC 10 hadn't been announced at the time though.

If I could sell the S7 and cancel AT&T today I would but I don't know if I could find anybody willing to buy the damn thing.

>>54943331 here. You didn't fry shit, those things fry themselves. Return it if you can, get your money back and DON'T SPEND IT ON ANOTHER GAMING LAPTOP.

Yes, I'm speaking from experience. Don't contact MSI, contact Amazon. Don't open it, you won't be able to fix it and even if you do it'll just break again anyway.

It has an overclockable CPU and I ran stress tests when I tweaked it, but I didn't run stress tests when I OC'd the graphics card, so I think it was literally just my stupidity.

Ati Radeon HD 5850
Still using it..
I was just a kid thinking about muh gayms back then. Ended up not playing gayms much anyway... And now I have to deal with this 150w card running 24/7 on my system. open source drivers are piece of shit and I get a black screen If I don't disable power management module in kernel args. which means the card is running at full clock all the time.

Also amd proprietary driver is an even worse piece of crap with terrible desktop performance
>>
>>54943751
Third party upgraded. My money is RIP but I'm just gonna get a $1000 laptop and $1500 desktop to replace it in a month
>>
>>54943171

>>
>>54943782
>so I think it was literally just my stupidity
For the third time in this thread, MSI are INFAMOUS for having inadequate cooling. I know you want to like the idea of a gaming laptop but just stop and look at what you actually have. It's already broken once, it will break again. You can do the oven trick and give your GPU another two-ish months if you do it right or you could fry it permanently with no hope of warranty. You could buy a replacement GPU, this will be an MXM card and will probably cost you insane amounts of money.
>>54943834
Then your money really is gone. How much did you spend on this venture in total? Three thousand dollars after the upgrade, perhaps?
>>
>>54943299
why even waste money on a graphics card if you're not gaming?

>>
>>54943911
Generally speaking it's a bad idea to get a laptop with any dedicated GPU, especially if they're going to be light and thin. If you want a laptop with a dedicated GPU, get a portable workstation or get ready to replace it in three years or less.
>>
>>54943870
Just $2300. Companies sell on amazon their own listings of upgraded laptops excaliberpc did the upgrade and it's under their warranty, but OCing voids that. Also I used to have a $1500 msi apache but I gave it to my girlfriend. She games constantly and doesn't have any issues with it and it's at least a year old. I wouldn't say their cooling's perfect, but it hasn't been bad before i went overboard into the desktop replacement meme

It probably won't last much longer. If it's still on their warranty then return it on their warranty. Don't mention the overclocking, don't mention what you think is wrong, just tell them that it stopped working and you have no idea why. Play stupid and pitiful and you will get sympathy.

Not in my situation. I already have a desktop and I only need said pc stick to be connected to my TV (I quit my cable service a while back and now it's only connected to UHF antenna). Basically I want to use my tv to browse 4chan and watch random youtube videos.

Turns out I could do the same with rpi3.
>>
>>54944076
It's okay, I'm not sweating it. One faulty laptop that only breaks after doing something that could cause it to break isn't gonna convince me a company's shit. It's a shame it's the most I spent on a tech item that I've broken, but it's not the end of the world and I've got no one to be upset with

Try and throw together $200. You can get a nicely spec'd t420 or maybe t430. Just get the 1600x900 screen. All $400 new laptops are going to be shit. I wish i would have found /g/ before buying my -80.
