Is there anyone here who can defend this shit?

>>

Because it gets thinner, obviously.
Only the very last centimeter is still thick enough to house a port.

Why can't they make one so thing it has no ports? It can do wireless charging
>>

What do you want, usb ports? Next what, fucking combo drivers?

Grandpa, we have iCloud and Google Drive now
>>
>>54931618
So they couldn't put on on the other side? Or the back ridge of the laptop?
>>
In another 5 years wired ports will be something associated exclusively with desktop PCs, while connectivity on laptops and mobile devices will be exclusively wireless. This is simply the first step towards that. Mark my words.

The keyboard is far worse than the port. I tried typing on it again yesterday. Hated it.

If they put that shit on the pro, I'll be running Linux on a thinkpad or latitude next month.
>>
>>54931519
You can rationalize that the machine is intended to be a fast and light device not tied down to external devices. What with so many services available wirelessly this really isn't an issue. it's primarily a charging port and available to other things as needed.
>>

People who buy macs cant afford stuff to plug in there anyway and its not like they know anything about that stuff or even usb drives for that matter.

They want it to be thin to show their friend how thin it is and then they accidently step on it and apple is happy they can sell the next modell to the same retard.

The majority of consumers are not /g/. They don't care about any of that. They're already occupied with concerns of daily life; paying the bills on time, keeping their families fed, keeping a roof over their heads. People want convenience, ease-of-use and peace-of-mind.

It's possible that someone could have a crappy upload speed, anon.

My upload speed is approximately 0.49152 MegaBits, which is about 60 KiB/s. Here are some estimates of how long I'd be waiting for files to upload at that rate:

1 MB file = 17 seconds
20 MB file = 5 minutes 41 seconds
2 GB file = 9 hours, 42 minutes, 32 seconds

Or, I could just quickly put that shit on a thumbdrive.

My ISP doesn't allow for that. And even if they did, how about I just follow the rules instead? They're pretty freakin' reasonable.

Also, what about linking to NSFW shit using links that go to other sites entirely? And do I have to explicitly say, or have the context in which I'm posting imply, that it's NSFW as well?

I'd look this shit up, but there's no info about it in the FAQs.

While agree one port is a stupid idea, I'd be quite happy to purchase one with 2 or more Type C ports.

The capabilities of USB Type C are not being taken advantage of in current machines.

While you may need to buy adapters now, in the future you won't need too. Why hang on to ancient standards such as USB 2.0 and VGA?

And quite simply if you don't like it, don't buy one and keep your thinkpad.

ONE DRIVE??? YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT ONEDRIVE? DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THAT PIECE OF SHIT "CLOUD" BULLSHIT. seriously, if you're gonna use the cloud, use google drive. their apps are much faster at syncing. I like OneDrive because right now, I get 40GB of free storage. On Google Drive - also a great service - only 17, and most of it is taken up by email storage.

I also like OneDrive because the web UI is nice, and it integrates with Word/Excel/LibreOffice files nicely. I can edit documents and spreadsheets either using a desktop program, or in the WebUI, and they'll be sync'd and work everywhere. With Google drive, you can only edit files in their "cloud" format. So if you want to view or edit your documents on the desktop, you have to export a copy of them in Microsoft or ODF format first, which sucks.

I also use OneNote a lot (in addition to EverNote), and it's nice to be able to have them exist in my OneDrive.

With that said, Google Drive is also great. I use a few apps that use Google Drive for storage, and it's really nice having them sit within my Google account.

iCloud though (even though nobody mentioned it) kinda sucks though.
>>
>>54934384
true. I do like onedrive. if they would fix the uploading and syncing issues, i'd be all for them.
>>
>>54934384
Forgot to mention that I'm also a religious user of SpiderOak too. I use it for development work where I need backups and lots of versioning, and for personal documents I wouldn't trust normal cloud-storage providers with.

The one knock I have against SpiderOak is that the UI needs some work, and syncing is sloooow. I don't use it when I need changes to instantly show up between my machines or colleagues.
>>
>>54934397
Guess I'm lucky then. Never had issues with OneDrive yet.

I also give points to OneDrive for one weird feature I found. I do work in Gimp and sometimes have .XCF sitting around and sync'd in OneDrive. Turns out that OneDrive's WebUI actually thumbnails that shit. Really surprised me that they'd support something like that, and handy for organizing my .XCF files because Windows doesn't thumbnail them (and I'm too lazy to figure out how to do it).
>>
>>54931519
As someone who got one of these for free, I can explain.

At first it sucked, but I realized I really only hook my phone up to it once a week or so. You kinda just get used to it, but it can never be used as a main machine unlike a macbook pro because of this. this isn't even the worst part, the keyboard is the worst thing ever and even though I've had this thing for 6 months now, I've mistyped about 25% of this post. god damn I hate this fucking keyboard. Aside from that I feel like it's not a terrible laptop, but shouldn't be over $1000. Just get a pro.
>>
>>54934661
Different poster here, but to add to that, why does the MacBook and MacBook air look identical on Apple's site? I would've figured only the Air would go for this kind of minimalism, not the mainline model.

And tell me more about the keyboard. Is it really that bad, and does the Pro model have it too? I would've never thought Apple would fuck that up, considering how much I love rMBP's keyboard.
>>

I remember how annoying it was during my elementary and high school years to always make sure I had my flash drive on me when I had to print out a essay or present a project in class. Left it at home and I was screwed. Ever since I started college I just type all my essays on Google docs.

Average consumers don't install their OSes, that's too inconvenient; instead, that's done by the OEM. With a device like the Surface Pro 4 or the Chromebook Pixel, all upgrades are managed automagically,
