>mfw reinstalled Windows 10 after 8 months

When was the last time you felt that 'fresh OS install' feeling?
>>
>>54929815
Did you disable ALL telemetry with just a single click?? :^)

1 year ago, gonna do a fresh install of W10 tonight
>>

>literally doesn't show the signs of an aging system like Windows used to
Either I somehow used it the right way or OS X just doesn't need regular reinstalls. Feels pretty good.

I only feel the "fresh OS install" once when I remove the shitty Windows OEM from a new laptop to install Arch Linux. It feels well because I am liberating a computer from license oppression.
>>
>>54929815
i did a clean install of windows 10 today also. feels good too f.a.m
>>
>>54930491
>somehow used it the right way
Only browsing facebook and not installing anything will allow any installation to last forever.
>>
>>54930491
nah windows 10 doesnt really slow down or anything but it just kinda "feels" not so clean as a fresh install. it is like doing a full blitz clean in your kitchen rather than just cleaning the work tops with a sponge and some soap. both get the job done the same but they do feel different

This is not the case.
>>54930565
I know how it feels, but as far as i remember, even if you don't keep extra programs in autostart, Windows boot slows down over time even on SSD.

What are you gentlemen doing in attempt to protect your privacy (if you care to begin with)? Firewall rules? A program? A script? Negative replies not necessary if you don't take action.

my windows 10 install was from september last year which was an upgrade from 8.1 and bootup stayed around the 12 second mark since day one. on the clean install it is 8 seconds though which is nice.
>>
>>54930670
Hardware firewall or go home.
>>
>>54930670
i just set telemetry to basic. i read through all the MS docs on what data is collected and i just dont think it is a big deal. android, ios, etc all collects the same data. and your ISP collects a fuck load more.

>>54930705
I haven't installed 10 yet. I still use 7, Mint, and on my laptop I have Debian but I was gonna switch from Mint to Debian on Desktop and put 10 on laptop but I know privacy is impossible. Hardware firewall probably is the only solution.

Do it again, Debian 8.5 released yesterday
>>
>>54929815
Retard.
>>
>>54930759
the tl;dr is that if you set it to basic it sends microsoft some details what things fail to work as they should. app crashes, failed updates, etc. nothing that i would ever say is invading my privacy.

I havent reinstalled my win 7 since 2011 and it works perfectly.

Not really a fresh reinstall because I have one partition for /home to keep my shit intact if I need to reinstall

Fresh install probably almost a year or so

Linux doesn't need that.

You assume they're running Arch.
>>
This: >>54932772

When I change laptops maybe, but even then I transfer over most of what I had and don't really have to start over on anything, except reinstalling packages.
>>
>>54932865
pacman -Rsn $(pacman -Qdtq)
>>
>>54933253
what does that actually do
>>
>>54929815
I don't use Winblows so I get that "fresh install feel" indefinitely.
>>
>>54929815
Never had to do that again since switching to a real OS made by experts.
>>
>>54933306
Removes useless packages. Not like it is that needed since with my arch install i have only 600+ packages.

For reference a Ubuntu fresh install with the downloaded updates had 1800+ at around 5 Gigs of space used.

>Removes useless packages.
yeah I figured that from context but I was asking more specifically what all the parameters are doing
