Good to see someone pushing a modern standard. Although one mDP would be handy
>>
>>54928290
But there were actual viable alternatives that were making those technologies obsolete. The vast majority of people and devices out there still rely on regular USB ports. It's not like everyone is already using USB type c devices and hubs and wondering why they even need the bigger USB ports anymore like we did with CDS and DVDs

Or does USB C have some weird thing in its spec that makes it usable for projecting? Or does Apple want you to use Lightning Bolb?

Everyone is already used to the fact that no mac can be ever plugged in directly and always needs an adapter that now they essentially follow this 100%.

Before we had dreams on mDP becoming the next standard and having mDP cables in our meeting rooms instead of HDMI that replaced VGA could become the norm, but now the hopes are gone. Whoever wants to present must have a big dongle.

It's a 1.67GHz processor, fyi. And it's the most durable computer I've ever owned. I got it in late 2005 (when it was released) and it doesn't have a scratch or bend on it, and the keyboard on it is by far the best keyboard of any laptop. It's truly GOAT design.

It'd be nice if they can pull a new designer who has some genuinely exiting ideas. It'd be great if they experiment with ideas besides aluminium again, at least for their non-pro ranges.

I mean, i do like the whole "premium" aluminium thing, but it's not so premium any more now everyone can do it even on semi-budget machines. Polycarbons, Carbon Fiber, hell maybe even wood. Just Shake up computer design again.

It's funny because Microsoft had an input method that was exactly like this years ago.

You just don't see it because that keyboard uses real keycaps.
https://www.microsoft.com/appliedsciences/content/projects/SideWinderX4.aspx

It's a keyboard that uses a resistive touchscreen (as seen on the Nintendo DS) instead of switches.

There are still "keycaps", but they are technically not switches.

Presumably the apple tech is following the same idea, but I don't know whether or not they're using keycaps.

Not only can you get a usb-c to HDMI cable for literally 4 dollars. But there's cheap adapters for everything else you guys have mentioned. At this stage it's literally if apple doesn't do it none of the other notebook manufacturers will. This includes adopting usb-c. It's a better standard that handles all use cases. Also as an accountant by trade I never use my numpad. It's incredibly inefficient compared to using rowed numbers. The only people that care about numpad are old farts that can't adapt
>>

Meanwhile, they STILL sell Mid-2012 non-retina MBPs new. Almost as if they know there's some people still that actually want a semblance of modularity and flexibility out of Apple products. They just don't want to admit it, which is why they refuse to release an updated MBP with the classic MBP's design.
>>
The fact that Apple replaced the keyboard to the retarded Chiclet-style keys in the MacBook and made it thinner (meaning possible heat issues or less battery size) put me off. The USB is not really a bother, only if they are like HP with their Spectre and include a USB C to USB type A adapter in the box, which is unlikely.

Apple forgot what true innovation was and went full nintendo with gimmicks that are nothing but a hindrance. They used to make some cool shit

The butterfly keys are trash tier and so is only having one port(there are thinner laptops with multiple ports)

Nobody had to "get used" to the retina screen, people knew that shit was awesome and apple did a good job. Nobody had to "get used" to the force touch trackpad, people knew that shit was awesome and apple did a good job. Nobody had to "get used" to the iPhone, etc.....

But th one port meme....the butterfly switches....and the upcoming removal of the headphone jack? all things people either admit to hating or will make excuses for, because they're shit. rev up those "y-you gotta get used to it" speeches

This is the new era of apple innovation: seeing how far Tim Cuck can fuck you in the ass with annoying gimmicks before apple fans stop making excuses for their post purchase rationalization

and protip: they never will, applel could literally release the iPhone 7 without a screen and applel fans would sit there and talk about how they "got used" to a phone with no screen

The thinness and lightness of the device really does help to make it great however. This is actually more than quite a few laptops, most laptops tend to only have 2 usb ports, so we're one up here (since one will be used for power which on any other laptop would have it's own dedicated port)
>>
>>54936947
The backend is a resistive touch screen. Doesn't mean that it displays anything.

Theoretically you could pick up a new tablet and cover it with capacitive switches and get a keyboard that can do 10 simultaneous keypresses.
>>
>>54937471
It's still true though.

For most users, there is an extra USB port.
>bbtu it's USB C, no one has USB C!
No one had USB either when Apple cut out all legacy ports on the first iMac either...
Legacy ports need to go away.

I'll reserve judgement on the oled function keys until the machine is out, it sounds neat but could be real shitty if they don't also incorporate the tactile feedback from newer iphones.

I stand exactly by butterfly keys==scissor switches, it's nothing new, no innovation.
>>

You guys realize that means there is up to 4 thunderbolt 3 ports right? That's literally amazing.

As for the keyboard they are different switches than the regular 12 inch macbook. The sites that are saying it isn't are retarded and have no idea what they are talking about. All it means for something to be a butterfly switch is that when the key is press, the mechanism below opens like a butterfly, instead of closing like a pair of scissors. See pic related for visual reference. This does not mean the macbook pro will have the same switches as the regular 12 inch macbook, that would be ridiculous.
