Why is CAPTCHA so interested in store fronts?
Images are sometimes not shown due to bandwidth/network limitations. Refreshing the page usually helps.

I fucking can't stand the "store front" captcha, I always refresh it immediately if I see them trying to pull that bullshit on me

Because they they run OCR on the pic to improve Google maps

Don't forget you can switch to legacy captcha in the settings.

So it can learn patterns that might help differentiate between shops and other places like residential homes, apartments, municipal services, etc.
And so they can come closer to automatically building a database of businesses from their street view or other image data. Right now they depend on people to manually enter where businesses are. But in the future they could scan the latest street view images, notice a new store front, recognize poster of an ice cream cone, then determine it's probably an ice cream parlor.

it's a lot easier to write a program to read google maps and copy all their data then it is to drive a truck around and read/recognize all the signs you see. still no one does that because we're all lazy and entitled.
>>
>>54914740
What a shit quality. Just change your ISP, ffs
>>
>>54914821
Are you logged on any Google service?
>>
>>54914987

No, I browse 4chan in private window.
>>
>>54914967
It pretty much looks the same. Actually I have a very good isp. 24mbps cumcast with no data cap (yet). The reason I'm turning stuff into Webms is becuase they're smaller. Doesn't make sense to use more storage/bandwith for no improved perceptual quality.
>>
>>54915008
Strange, Google thinks your PC is safe for some reason.
>>
>>54915044

This has been happening only recently, for the past week or so.
>>
>>54915030
What's the difference? It's not your bandwidth and it will cleaned anyway. The only difference is that you are using more CPU power to renderize it.
>>
>>54915062

Not really, this is why I include

parameters to avoid unnecessary cpu utilization.

does anyone else try to intentionally mislead the captcha? If you select three, and find the two most obvious and select an ambiguous one, you can sometimes get it to pass.

I just hope whatever I'm doing is misleading their shitty pattern recognition networks that we're probably training
