Not sure if this is the best place for this, but a porn company is threatening to sue. I didn't use Tor/proxies anything like that

Really scary because I also had downloaded more (all from kat) that some other company might try and fine me with.

I just want something that isn't a botnet.
I'm a total newfag but I checked out the wiki.
Firefox, Icecat, and chromium are "free web browsers", and the rest are "not free" (I guess botnet?).
Which one should I use?
>>
>>54890404
There is no way that they charge $300 a file. They are just trying to shake you up.

If they go to court they have to prove that you did it and they can only win an amount that restores their losses + court costs. If it's a subscription site those 'losses' will be low (like say, one month's subscription fee). They will claim high court costs so say their lawyers charged hourly, but they would also have to prove those costs to the judge. Those costs would only be so high given how straight-forward the case is. In addition there's a risk that they could lose the case, in which case they would have to pay you your court costs etc.

Basically it likely wouldn't be worth taking you to court. I'm not a lawyer but I'd just ignore it.

you don't need to install anything, just put the video file you want to encode in the bin folder then run command line and use the instructions here:

What C language would I be best off trying to learn? C++? C#?

There's this piece of software which is free, or perhaps even open source, which does a really good job at muxing about. Like transferring the h264 and aac/ac3/dts, what have you, into a different container.
But you could also just extract the contents using the mkvtoolnix GUI program.
>>
>>54891365
C++ and C# are completely different.
If you're already using Visual Studio, just go with C# as your first language. It's easy to pickup and there's plenty of good ways to learn it, while still allowing you to do quite a lot with it.

Hi, I'm the guy that updated Debian from Jessie to Stretch without removing the Nvidia drivers beforehand so the GUI no longer loaded (startx and xinit did nothing).

After removing (purge) all Nvidia related packages, and removing the Xorg config files, the problem persists, but the logfile is naturally different.

I removed xorg and xinit, updated, rebooted, etc. Nothing. The logfile hasn't changed apparently, but I'll update it shortly just in case.

If you could help me out I would appreciate it greatly.

Thanks in advance.

Here's the (previous, but apparently identical to the new one) logfile.

but whne it is during games its most often when

>loading the game
>loading to a new zone
>tabbing back into the game after tabbing out

I just cleaned the inside of my computer and blew out all the dust with a duster can and I replaced the thermal paste, while playing games my

my idle CPU temps are 30-40c and while I'm playing games like Fo4, far cry primal, arkham knight are about 50c

this only happened recently, maybe in teh last 2 months and its an on going thing

I can going 4-5 days with no problem what so ever and i'll be playing one of those games for hours with no trouble at all

and suddenly BAM, restart and no harm done besides the computer saying "windows did not shut down properly" etc.

Which motherboard?
Do you have some settings like "Adaptive mode" and "Voltage offset" ?

It really isn't a problem unless you're crashing anyway, no game uses the AVX instruction set so far I know only x264 encoding uses it besides synthetic benchmark tests so it's not like its going to happen all the time and any stress test with AVX instructions is almost impossible to past when overclocking the CPU, I've had my 4690K 4.2Ghz crash after 48 hours on Prime95.

They way Haswell and Skylake CPU work now is different specially under FPU loads.

The CPU VID which is the Voltage you set on the motherboard is not the voltage itself as in how much the CPU being feed but is a "voltage table" instead from which the CPU picks a voltage set for a core clock, not all CPUs are the same so having a set voltage for all CPUs wold not work so Intel has this method were there is a voltage table with some leeway for the CPU to pick higher or lower voltages depending on the silicon quality, so to say every CPU at stock comes with an extra voltage offset so all the CPUs can work without crashing or manually have to tune each single one.

The FPU hardware on the CPUs need extra power compared to the rest of the architecture so once you start FPU task like AVX the CPU will ask for more power and once you overclock the CPU the same FPU hardware will ask for even MORE power, see my image.

>>54895983

Is 4k a meme or should I consider it? Been looking into getting a 1440p monitor (probably Dell Ultrasharp), but today saw a massdrop for the 27UD68P-B, which is a 27" 4k Freesync LG monitor for $400. Is 27" too small for a 4k monitor? I imagine the screen realestate would be nice but would playing video games be too demanding on it? I don't play very often so I'm unlikely to ever invest in a flagship gpu, probably plan to just grab one of the new AMD 480 or maybe 490(when released). Basically is there any reason not to just go with the 4k monitor when it's around the same price/cheaper than a 1440p monitor?
>>
>>54896061
>You're part of the problem, normalfag.
Prove me wrong then
>>
>>54896000
In my case VIN6/VIN12 is what is being actually being feed to the CPU, yup 1.432v when running IntelBurnTest. VID is the Core voltage I set on the BIOS settings which I set to 1.251 but the motherboard override it to 1.261 when running IntelBurnTest.

This is normal behavior even at stock settings, since we can't manually pick voltages for the FPU hardware itself so the CPU has to adhere to the rules set by Intel which is use the VID voltage table + extra voltage needed from the FPU hardware + the increased VID core you set(remember it is a voltage table which is now bigger) the problem just exuberates with crazy voltages under FPU loads.

>>54896145

You're not going to see that kind of load in normal everyday usage not even while encoding X264 though so you don't have to worry and there is most likely a chance you're going to fail Prime95 with AVX instruction set because the CPU will ask for INSANE amounts of voltage under some test, small tests like 4K in general are crazy hot as they request crazy voltages, if you really want to past all Prime95 tests(really hard even at stock clocks with Haswell/Skylake CPUs) set your VCORE/VRING/VCCIN voltage to 1.9V or higher. but not higher than 2.1V. the problem when Prime95 and FPU loads is that they ask crazy amounts of voltage so even if the core voltage you've set can provide it the VCCIN couldn't do it so lets say you have a VCCIN of 1.7v and the CPU suddently ask for 1.4V, you have less than 0.3V leeway(Intel recommends at least 0.4v) and this is when a crash happens.

What I recommend is to install the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility, disable all power saving features EIST and all C states on the bios, set your core multiplier and voltage on manual mode, same with the cache multiplier and cache voltage set to manual mode to, if you haven't messed around with it yet leave it at stock settings.

Run the stress test for at least 12 hours, if you fail increase voltages by 0.001.
>>
>>54896000
Ok, so what do I want to set my values at and which voltage method should I use?
1.39v with adaptive voltage has been stable in prime 27.9 for 3 hours, but the voltage ramps up to 1.43. I'd have to test again with override voltage, but it goes down to 1.34v.
A constant voltage isn't being forced since EIST keeps enabling itself in the bios.
