I run a real estate website somebody built for me recently on Symphony CMS and I'm just curious if it's really safe, like, safer than wordpress (?)

North American or European dev, you're probably safe.
Indian dev, you're likely fucked.
Not OP, but I just made a Wordpress theme and I kind of was wondering the same thing.
If you clean any input from the url and userfields, then you should be safe right?

I'm not sure what universe you guys are in, but WordPress has had numerous security flaws over the years. I wouldn't ever consider it "secure", although if you use addons that aren't doing anything funky and sanitize inputs you're at least gonna be doing okay.
That said, there's whole legions of bots that just scan WP sites for their version numbers, then break in and own your site. I'm not sure I'd recommend it to anyone for anything more than a straight up blog or simple static site.
