How to detect and remove black bars automatically on windows with mpv?
>>
I don't know why latest release crashes on my windows.
This is the same with latest kodi krypton release. :(
>>
Anyway to limit the scale of upscale?

For example, I want 480p video to only upscale 2-3x to 1080, not 4k.

I want 720 to only upscale to 1080 or 1440p not 8K

How do I limit upscale? This is mainly an issue when I watch a shitty low quality 360p video and it upscale it all the way up to 1440 or higher. This takes up so much gpu/computation as a result and starts framedropping
>>
What do I need to add to the mpv.conf to stop it automatically from closing after a video playback has ended?

Upscaling 360p to 1440 is significantly easier than upscaling 1080p to 1440p

Making your window smaller would be the easiest way

>Upscaling 360p to 1440 is significantly easier than upscaling 1080p to 1440p

I upscale my anime (or a regular movie) from 720p 600MB source mkv to 1440p and there's no frane drops and plays smoothly.

I try doing the same with 20 mb 360p shit quality youtube video with the same shader/setting and frame drops everywhere and laggy shit.

So you're wrong on that one. Note, I use SuperRes/AdaptiveSharpen and that seems to be the biggest drain on resource when upscaling a 360p to 1440p. Disabling those work out fine, but having to change back and forth makes it annoying.

I could do windowed mode, but thats simply a workaround not a proper solution. I want to see a a scale limit option if its possible.

Recent mpv should show a checkered background behind transparent gifs. I think you can also change the background colour.

I'm not sure if this is useful for anything, but on some platforms you can make the window fully transparent (so your desktop shows through) with --vo=opengl:alpha. mpv on Windows doesn't support this yet, but it will soonâ„¢.

I've looked into the android ndk and mpv for the past few days because I'm interested in making mpv work on Android. There's already a project on github that has a beginning of something. It's not very far though and uses kotlin so I probably won't contribute to it. I haven't used it myself yet.

Gonna try it now, however I think I found the culprit.
1. if the source video is 60fps = stutter
https://a.pomf.cat/obnuip.webm
didn't happen if I played a 30-24fps~ video

2.What are these files? never seen them before, removing them allowed rivatunner to work again.

3. OSD seems to be way bigger now, with a bar on the middle when you up the volume.

Didn't notice much of a difference between the sourceforge and bitbucket one, except bitbucket only had one of the 3 .dll(s) on the picture, "D3DCompiler_47".

Point 1: If it stutters at 60FPS and not 30 that suggests a HW problem, you don't have enough power to process 60fps with your current vo settings.

Point 2: They are for angle, prefered backend to be used on Windows. Removing them broke angle backend, now you have to either use win or specify dxinterop hoping it works.
Also if deleting angle made rivatuner work then it seems rivatuner is fucked with angle.

Point 3: Sounds like the default OSD bar. You probably don't have `no-osd-bar` set in your mpv.conf

>Didn't notice much of a difference between the sourceforge and bitbucket one, except bitbucket only had one of the 3 .dll(s) on the picture, "D3DCompiler_47".
You must be very confused. The image you posted is the bitbucket build with scripts and 3 .dll files and sourceforge has it built in with only 1 .dll file.

I'm experiencing weird lag when using mpv with a projector, the rig is more than capable of running mpv.

My theory is it's something finnicky with the projector's movie mode which locks it at the cinema standard 24.whatever FPS for maximum home cinema placebo effect and mpv trying to synchronize to the wrong display, so going at 60 FPS.

How?

Someone posted presets in the OP.
The manual tells me to make a file called mpv.conf in the appdata/roaming/mpv folder and put that preset in.
I do that, and it doesn't work.
Someone tells me to try portable_config.
I do that, and it doesn't work.
Someone tells me portable_config actually needs mpv.conf in the same folder which the manual doesn't say, but I do it anyway, and it doesn't work.

Where exactly did I show my retardation? I did exactly what the manual said.

Are you just an anti-windows guy shitposting?
>>
>>54921888
Looks like bitbucket build? Did you delete the mpv.conf from inside the mpv directory?

You don't need mpv.conf near mpv.exe or portable directory one. You can use the one in the mpv folder. You probably have at least 3 separate configs files right now.
>>
>>54921920

I deleted portable_config and mpv.conf in appdata. The only one I have is right next to mpv.exe, which the manual says is fine but low priority.

manual said to use the one in appdata first and avoid using mpv.conf in the same directory, but I guess the manual is wrong.

I admit I did fuck up by just making the file instead of the directory. My bad.

Well you only need 1 mpv.conf.

What I did was download: https://bitbucket.org/rorgoroth/mpv-for-windows/downloads/mpv-2016.05.30-Win64.zip

Place the folder where I want it installed (keep it there), run the install script and then use the mpv.conf inside the mpv directory which is next the mpv.exe file it has always worked.
When you want update just right click the updater scrip and you get latest version of mpv and scripts.

m8 i'm not gonna stop posting until i get an answer for this.

either tell me why it's failing to create d3d11 or tell me how to force the filters at 1080p.

i'll just use madvr then since it isn't a pile of shit and can't create d3d11.

why isn't it downscaling after rendering at a higher resolution? those presets are useless unless you have a 2k+ monitor seems like.

ANGLE & d3d11 are still in testing, they are not guaranteed to work. You just said it works fine with es=no, opengl mode

add prescale-luma=superxbr to vo if you want to force image doubling
