Should I even bother going through more tutorials if I already know the basics of programming? Should I just choose something to make and use google a shitload?
I nkow all about loops etc. I know that objects are ways to reuse code and organise data.

congratulations, you spend 5 minutes on codeacademy! You are now a code ninja!

I have a degree in non software engineering and have used MATLAB as a glorified calculator for a while though, which is what I mean by basics

You don't seem to know a lot about programming concepts
Stop being a lazy fuck and learn to program

>objects are ways to reuse code
Well sonny boy you would be wrong. You can reuse code but it is by and far not the point of using OOP.
>organize data
This is accurate.
You want a challenge? Download a copy of Introduction to Algorithms 3rd Edition, by Cormen et al., and then implement the Heap data structure. Bonus points if your heap resizing algorithm generates its own primes list.

>heap
Fuck wait, that's easy as piss.
I meant hash set. Which is why I mentioned primes.
