I hope for the day when Linux can work on the totality of technology: across the most diverse in age and shape. I hope that its abilities of functionality span the technological universe. Said increase is only possible through negation of the negativity eminent from default: "Old Toshiba + Ubuntu = graphics error".

I dream of the day when the wires of technological consciousnes are willed to extend into all hidden recesses.

Dude, I bought a Logitech h340 the usb one. Plugged it into my debian works out of the box. Plugged it into my windows machine for a win only game, I fucking kid you not, it took 15 min then a fucking reboot because the driver utility froze everything then 5 other minutes because I changed the usb port it was plugged in.

I should make a fucking webm about this.
Again, apparently debian was notorious for wifi drivers or some shit? get this last week I fixed my newer laptop then put in it the ssd that was on the ancient one, everything works great except wifi because it wasn't the same card of course. Guess what, a fucking Sudo apt install Broadcom did the trick. And I think I only had to do that because Debian and nonfree packages.
Linux distros came a long way, I'm the first to be pleasantly surprised.

It's funny, OP. You say "totality of technology" but what you really mean is "this particular x86 machine and this particular AMD card"

linux will only have made it when Creative issues drivers for it.

Yeah, I care most about how MY own stuff works but so does everyone one else. Therefore, not only I would be happy if it work in totality.

It does work in totality you fucking imbecile. When was the last time you had an OS that works fucking ANY platform that has a programmable MMU?

Hell, there are some Linux versions that even work on architectures that doesn't have an MMU.

Fuck off Microsoft shill and don't come back until Windows runs on PowerPC / OpenPower

i dream of the day linux stays inaccessible and worthless to gamers and norps

if it doesn't, some shitty *BSD will just rise to take its place, and that would be terrible

can we normiefy BSD instead?

>OS X
oh wait

I installed windows 7 to a newer laptop the other day and there was no wireless drivers either. Linux is the future if the other choice is wondows 10.
