I copied most of my friends work in Visual Basic in school. I don't get any of that shit. Funny thing is I'm supervisor for our firms IT department, make more than the people who know how to program.

If you're talking about the original VB it was shit with faux-OOP. But you could develop simple corporate front ends vaster in VB than in C++/Win32, so it became widely used.
If you're talking about VB.NET, there is literally no difference between it and C#. Same framework, runtime, JIT, performance, everything. Tiny syntax differences are the only differences. So tiny that a bot can convert any project from one to the other without error.
C# exists so that .NET fags can feel like they're wearing big boy pants because "I'm using C(syntax)!"
What do I think of .NET in general? It's actually pretty good for prototyping and rapid application development. I can completely understand why so many corporate IT teams are .NET.
It's shit for cross platform (inb4 the kissing disease), absolute balls out performance, interfacing with hardware, and other low level shit.
.NET is also loaded with Pajeets which I hate, but which isn't really the fault of the languages or tools.
