Using Facebook on mobile browser is pretty painful since I get redirected to the Google play store to install their app but I don't want to because I don't like having apps view my entire device just so I can send a message to a friend.
What are some reasons why I shouldn't install it ?

You can install Swipe for Facebook or Tinfoil and messaging still works.
Most apps on mobile devices act as web front-ends for the website's features. They develop a separate app because it's a pain in the ass to make webpages for mobile browsers work fluently across thousands of different devices.
Also, if you're using FaceBook and a Google-developed OS, why in the holy mother of fuck are you concerned about your privacy?

They make apps to make data collection easier for them and force people to use them because analytics and big data collection in its current state is inefficient on web and would rather have people do work for them.
I mean, both the app and the site collect data anyway, but at least I can control some of it through a browser. The app just creates a box they can put me in.

Tinfoil is basically just a browser. Swipe is the browser with an extra toolbar and few extra features. Definitely recommend Swipe unless FOSS is very important to you.
