Well, for example, I live in a country where 4g is not only sparse, it is also expensive.
My music takes up ~ 32GB. Then you take a few pictures, a movie or two(not even 4k), system files, and the fact that 64 GB isn't even 64GB, and there you have it.

It's nice to have the opportunity to expand is all I'm saying.

I woke up this morning and used my phone starting at 50%, what followed was extreme lag, high temperatures (to the touch), and an overall crippling experience. At this moment I wasn't using much Snapchat, but more Facebook, YouTube and Google Music. I always Greenify (Stock Everything) after I use an app.

It's probably important to know that those apps listed don't lag at all when my first turn on my phone. I usually need to restart my phone at ~150 uptime hours to prevent several apps (including Snapchat) to stop lagging, but I was only at 34 hours at this moment so I was surprised to sew how bad my experience was.

I made this autismtable of all the current high-end phones. Horizontally are the specifications in sort-of order of importance.

I know .ac and the megapixels are pretty useless

>green=has feature or better
>yellow=lack feature or above min/max, but can be compensated
>red=lack feature and too much above or below the wanted spec

green is 2 points, yellow 1 and red 0. Total points added up where maximum is 26 points. Green = 22pt+, yellow = 20-21 points and red is <20pt.

conclusion
>Xiaomi Mi5 Pro is the best phone. The lack of wireless charging is compensated by USB-C and quickcharging. Lack of SD card reader is compensated by 128GB default storage. The imho ugly back can fully fixed with a neutral dbrand/slickwraps sticker or even a memecase.

What solution that lets me sync all my music and playlists over all my devices is simpler than just opening Spotify?
>>
>>54856665
Spotify isn't that simple if you have to find some other means to listen to the significant chunk of your library that they don't have.

That being said Google Play Music solves this problem but still has the typical streaming problems (listening without signal, using other players).
>>
>>54856732

https://youtu.be/d2jav7UdQtE

>>
>>54857629
I've heard about the durability of the regular Mi5, but the Mi5 Pro is supposed to be a lot better. Then again, your video is the only video showing how easily it breaks. Other stress tests, including bend tests, don't show it breaking so easily.

It isn't really surprising either. The Mi5 is $319, while the Pro is $449. With the specs the regular version has, you have to cut costs on something else. The Nexus 5X for example falls into the same price category as the regular Mi5, but lacks slightly on other aspects.

>>54858057
>Other stress tests
Very few can really be trusted. Many are either too gentle as they don't really want to destroy their device or have incentives to make a favorable impression.

I doubt the thinner model will have a vastly stronger frame but we will see. I'd definitely hold off until it's objectively tested.

Replaced .ac with Quickcharge abilities. Generally speaking 2.0 charges 60% in 30 minutes, while 3.0 charges 80% in 30 minutes. Other phones charge about 25% in 30 minutes.
MP replaced with overal camera quality taken from various websites.

Again: Green = 2pt, Yellow = 1pt, Red = 0pt.
<20pt = Red, 20/21pt = Yellow, 22pt+ = Green

>>54858164
The Mi5 Pro has 10g more weight while being .05mm slimmer, so the weight has to be put in something. Ceramic is known for it's hardness and elasticity/flexibility, so my guess is that the build quality in terms of bend-ability is a lot better for the Pro.

JerryRigEverything's bend tests aren't scientifically too. Bending by hand can very moment-dependent and varies from person to person. When a phone can be broken with, what seems to be little force, it obviously does say something about the quality.

The 5X doesn't have qualcomm quick charge but does have adaptive fast charging and charges up at 30 equivalent speeds. I think the 6P has the same. It's a bit unfair to mark them down for that.

Is it possible to charge a normal device (tablet, smartphone) with a Qualcomm 2.0 chargeport?
>>
>>54858774
Yes. Your device will only draw the current it is rated for.
>>
>>54858593
Both the 5X and the 6P have the feature known as "fast-charging". This statement however is very vague and doesn't promise any percentage/time ratio. To profit from this fast-charging you need the original charging cable which is 5V/3A and then not all cables work.
The table is personal too. Some people don't care about the thickness or don't mind having a terrible camera. In the case of QC, I use tons of cables. Only buying original cables to profit from this alternative fast-charging is a no-go.

Weight and target numbers are based on personal preference. I currently own the OnePlusOne (top of the table) which is way too thick for me and really heavy. Having worked in a phone store, 7.6mm is my personal maximum for thickness and 150g the maximum weight.
>>
>>54858902
Alright, not criticising just curious about your reasoning.
Why do you consider USBC to be so much better than micro? Personally I still see it as a disadvantage to anyone who already has a tonne of micro USB cables, chargers, powerbanks etc. as it requires a significant investment to replace them all.
>>
>>54858820
Thanks anon, love you.
>>
>>54859012
While I do own a handful of reversible microUSB cables, USB-C is superior to microUSB for desk/car/speaker docks. On top of that, most people, including me, keep their phone for 2 years. USB-C is already becoming the norm and pc's, laptops and other appliances are joining rapidly.

Interested in
>Nexus 5X (32gb)
>LG G4
>HTC ONE A9

and if the budget is lowered
>LG G3

My M7's is broken in all ways except the connectivity and the screen. I want the replacement to have a better camera and a slightly larger screen, otherwise I'm pretty much fine with everything on it, especially the aluminum design which made me buy it in the first place (which I still appreciate today, some impulses are good) and the main reason why the A9 is on the list.

But I feel like getting the LG G3 for specs and price reasons, and also I was hyped when it came and I would like to experience it before I can save up for the HTC ONE M10 (or M11 if its better). Only issue I'm afraid of is the overheating issues I heard about earlier, if anyone here used it I would appreciate if you could share your experience with it.

It looks and feels pretty good, the two card trays on the side does ruin it a little bit but its still a solid design in my eyes.

Its on sale right now, at the same price as the LG G4 and about 20€ above the Nexus 5X 32gb.

I only looked at a couple of reviews on it, main complaints was either about the price being to high or that they copied the iPhone 6.

Comparing it to my M7 it looks like a decent upgrade (SD card, better button placement, slightly larger screen, design is still aluminum and not completely bonkers, better camera). The battery isn't any worse than mine, which is fine. My only issue is that the specs on paper is not a big upgrade as compared to the other alternatives, but they are still good enough for me.
>>

same

with that said i did manage to find some chinese reviews of it on youtube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKqNNECWpgg
at around the 10:00 mark they test out the fingerprint unlock when your hand is wet. it doesnt work when your finger is wet, yet it works on the xiaomi mi5 i think.
at around the 24:30 mark they demonstrate the wireless charging. i guess the thing doesnt have built in qi charging so you have to buy a qi charging adapter case. i'd pass on the adapter.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krbrvxRZBK4
at 3:30 she demonstrates swiping on the home button. you can customize what it actually does, but right now it just switches between the recent apps. sometimes the gesture isn't properly recognized and it brings her home or she has to swipe a few times. after a few more tries it doesn't really work so the video feed changes a different angle of the phone lol

Hello /g/,

I was looking into getting a new phone recently since I realised that s4 will not be gettinggetting any more updates (I have been quite happy with the phone for the past 3 years).

I was looking into getting an s7 but I feel like an idiot buying something so expensive with little improvement so my friends recommended me oneplus 2 or xiaomi mi 5. I was thinking of waiting for 1+3 to come out to see how it is. Do you have any suggestions?

Yes i do consider the R3P, but i'll have to pay 20€ for shipping and 19% tax on top of it which negates the cost effectivness.

I'm talking about the regular redmeme 3

https://tradingshenzhen.com/redmi-3-3-pro-2-1s-1/489-xiaomi-redmi-3.html#/speicher-16gb/firmware-xiaomi_eu_multilanguage/gerate_farbe-schwarz/gratis_beigabe-displayschutz_folie_usb_otg_kabel_eu_adapter

that's the pro

https://tradingshenzhen.com/redmi-3-3-pro-2-1s-1/563-xiaomi-redmi-3-pro.html#/firmware-original_en_ch/speicher-32gb/gerate_farbe-schwarz/gratis_beigabe-displayschutz_folie_usb_otg_kabel_eu_adapter

but doesn't seem to expensive to me, the huawei p9 costs around 300 eurobucks.
