I'm a final candidate for an Information Technology position for an internship.
One of the tasks required of me at this final stage is developing some sort of "how to guide" relating to computers. An example I was given was "how to clear cookies and history".
I wish to set myself apart from my competition so I'm making a "how to" video in addition to a .pdf or informational image.
Some things I've thought of:
>setting up a proxy
>how to install and use a torrent client
>how to create hard drive partitions
What do you guys think?
I think that that has fuckall to do with real IT.
Sounds more like an entry level customer support position.

Lol what kind of bottom of the barrel work is that

How about how to reinstall a window operating system. Most businesses majors will think you are a God among men.
>how to guide
There isn't really anything that beats the blog format when it comes to "how to do something".
Documents are somewhat inferior in terms of layout because you have to worry about where to place the graphics, where they tend to be somewhat intrusive.
With web design, you can use the carousel which is so popular in many websites to not have to worry about where you should put your example images.
You also might find this interesting for your purposes:

Videos are unilaterally inferior to any other form of "doing" things, because editors often don't realize that they fucking suck at editing. They add terrible music, horrible recording quality, and they DON'T GET TO THE FUCKING POINT.

I should add that you will probably want to post your video here or somewhere else to get feedback, because I know you will do a terrible job at it.
Everyone does.

Doesn't a "how to guide" for an internship kind of imply that they want you to demonstrate that you can write something up so that typical users can get something practical/useful done with regards to typical business operations without the help of IT?

how to install GNU/Gentoo

IT guy here, it's more for KB articles for your other retarded coworkers.
i.e. "Properly Configuring Program X to Company Specifications"
They also do that bottom level bullshit because your coworkers most likely only have a A+ cert and hates computers.
