I'm an embedded engineer working on robotics to be among the first to augment.
The way I see it, my body is a dying sack of blood that needs a shit supply of nutrients and medical treatment. Its very weak and proprietary - if it breaks its painful and complicated to repair.
I would start with my limbs to reduce daily nutrient intake. If I ever lose an arm or a leg I could quickly and easily replace it. I would also like to reduce joint failure found in human biology.
Eventually I would replace what I could of the rest of my body with artificial organs to adequately support my brain health. As they age I would aim to add mechanical spinal support and a stronger skin material.
I see the biggest benefits in relying on electricity as energy over food. When exploring space I could last longer than traditional astronauts by having lower energy and weight demands.
The most critical augmentations I would like to do involve interfacing with the brain for some really neat shit I'd rather keep to myself until better I understand its implications on the world.
