It's an excellent laptop, I have the 13 inch one. The only thing I guess is that if you plan on keeping OSX on it, check if you won't be missing any software you may need. Also keep in mind nothing is upgradable but the m-sata SSD so pick the right one.

I think you should go back to 2nd grade before you express your opinion more.
As to the battery life, the Macbook has 9 hours streaming and web browsing with relatively light usage. My T420 barely gets 4 hours on idle, when I start browsing the web it gets barely 3 hours. Not to mention that isn't my only reason for upgrading. I want a quad core CPU and a dGPU as well. If you can find me a laptop with those specs with a "retina" like display and more battery life, I will be happy to buy that instead.

If I were you, I wouldn't update to the next major version of the OS. Mine came with Mavericks and it's been woe since I moved to Yosemite and the to Capitan.
Also, no other OS wil give you a good battery life, so stick to OS X.

Just got a x260. Smaller than I expected, the keyboard isnt as good as the old ones and even the exterior seems to be like a plastic imitation of the old rubberized.

Yosemite: Network went to hell because Apple tried to introduce a replacement to mDNSResponder. It was a fucking nightmare.
El capitan: My USB DAC suddenly stopped working, and also had network issues.
I believe that that now that they hit 10.11.5 everything works fine, but I'm not upgrading to whatever comes next until it's close to the end of cycle. Or maybe I will just stick to El Capitan since I don't really use any of the stuff that they keep adding to the OS.

With Skype and other chat/calling/video chat apps it all depends who you want to talk too. I don't like Skype but everybody uses it or knows about it.
Google Docs is nice for typing recipes but when a company sends you Word or Excel files, plenty of them will display/function as intended.

Cooling is less than it should be, half because of the fan profile and half because of the HSF assembly itself. It needs a higher flow fan and a denser fin arrangement. That said, I've never experience throttling. In fact even under prime95 it will still turbo up 300MHz. Uh, external displays sometimes need an override if you connect over HDMI. OS X has become fairly ugly, imo, and Apple is breaking shit left and right (how could you do that to disk utility??)
That's really all the bad I can say about it. If this continues I'm probably not going to be able to buy another Apple product.
