Most people can recognize that computers are finding their way into every facet of our everyday lives, so obviously there must be some demand for individuals that can create and/or maintain said computers. Well, people aren't wrong.
More and more people are looking to IT and Computer Science as alternative career paths that can oppose Law, Medicine, and other long standing job market titans. These "normalshits" are really just the same kind of people that would have taken the medicine or law route decades ago.
If the job exists and pays well while providing possible career options, why would any able-minded person stay away? Don't be naive. If you're looking to get into the field, you're going to have to compete with people who are socially adept and are capable members of society.
The fact that getting a job in the field is far easier than ever due to the advent of more sophisticated and more widely available methods of application in networking, computer security, information technology, etc.

I was a normie before I got involved in CS. I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life and spent most of my time going to parties and chasing skirts. Then I took a programming class, installed linux just to try it, and started spending all of my time ricing and building things. After a while I realized I had stopped caring about parties, classes, and women.
I ended up dropping out because I couldn't stop tinkering long enough to pass my classes. Fast forward a couple years, and now I'm working as an embedded systems engineer and loving every second of it.
In my case, I only engaged in normie shit because I didn't have anything meaningful in my life, and parties/women took my mind off that fact. When I discovered computers, I was able to fill that void with something much more entertaining and meaningful.
Realistically though, I think the vast majority of normies are just following the money. I doubt many of those who don't actually enjoy it are going to make it very far, so I'm not too worried about them taking my job.
