So I'm not the most tech savvy. I have a surround sound system in my room. Why does music sound so much better on my system when I play it via my Xbox than when I plug my system into my laptop's headphone input? (RCA system input)

Is there any way to make it sound better through my laptop, or is something on my laptop busted?
