Use the latest drivers for your wireless card from the manufacturer's website
>screen tearing
Check whether DWM.exe is running
>can't manually install .deb packages
Hmm, you might be able to extract them with 7Zip or WinRAR
>mfw when long term support release
Well, all versions have a lifespan of at least 10 years.
I feel u. 16.04 probably the worst ubuntu release ever, and it's a lts, amazing. Almost no new features in 4 years and they release a buggy and unpolished OS. They are focused on the phones and sucking Microsoft's dick now.
Using mint 17.3 now. I hope all the ubuntu retardation gets fixed before the mint 18 release.

Mint has terrible Aesthetics. Only good if you never used any other good distro before
>>54809663
I tried almost every *known* distro under the sun. Mint/Cinnamon is very configurable and you can change the theme. Not configurable as kde but is super stable (KDE is a chaos). Great font rendering and everything is polished and well tested.

Use the latest drivers for your wireless card from the manufacturer's website or from an open source repository

Check whether compiz is running

Hmm, you might be able to install them via the application called "Software" or via the command "dpkg -i"
>mfw when long term support release
All versions have regular updates to fix faulty hardware and similar problems that you are experiencing.

Linux has literally never worked when it comes to wifi
its a piece of shit that will never be usable or relevant
Ubuntu 16.04 was total crap at launch, but since then it has improved a lot, using it full time now, not a single bug or crash on my optimus laptop.
