So when is the biggest nostalgia craze gonna hit these old phones around the 2000s.
They are gonna be sought after sooner or later. And they are still in working condition, you can call and send texts.
I recommend buying some old phone even just as a paper weight, they aren't gonna get cheaper anymore.
Is /g/ too young to remember?

Probably never, except for the weird/innovative stuff. They don't have much utility, and most of them aren't very displayable or particularly interesting to non-collectors.
Unlike old computers, old phones are pretty much useless without a network, and nobody's going to pay the bill just to have one around or dump their newer devices to use one.

We have already hit the Gillette phase of product design with phones. Gillette keep adding stupid gimmicky bullshit to try to market what is basically small cheap sharp pieces of metal with a 5,000% profit margin that haven't changed in any significant way since 1974.
Now phone manufacturers are doing this shit, with the screen curving off the side of what is otherwise just a flat box with a screen. Why? What is the point of this shit?
Meanwhile they're all running Android Kitkat or some other massively outdated crap, because its too much effort for a phone manufactuer to put a new version of Android in what is basically the same phone they've been selling for years. So despite trying to add crappy gimmicks to their phones, the user doesn't get any new software features.
The only thing I actually might upgrade my phone for now is wireless charging, and NFC so I can use Android Pay. As far as I'm concerned after that there's no point in getting a new phone.

Smart phones have hit a plateau for years already. If you bought a decent phone 3 years ago, there is no need to upgrade. You already have a great camera, big full HD screen, etc.

Pretty much, I accidentally smashed my first gen moto G and realized that I could get a decent phone for dirt cheap now.
Got the OPPO F1 for 200 AUD which has the specs of a ~$500 AUD phone. I didn't look into chink shit but that's only because I don't trust myself to not get ripped off.
I have this one it still works great.
Sadly it has gotten to the point where literally nobody uses SMS anymore since talking through whatsapp and such is free and easier so I can't really blame people for that.
I might buy a cheap android phone one of these days. It sounds like a hassle to charge your shit so frequently though but I guess I can get used to it.

living in the us most of my chats are on FB messenger or Telegram. Some texting, dunno why people don't respond to them here much anymore.
Shit is literally unlimited with just about any plan.

Seriously, it hit me that my Xperia Z3 is almost 1.5 years old (2 since they came out) and still trades shots with the best of them.
For once it feels nice having 0 incentive to upgrade something.

I use a motorola startac. So I fell for it.
someone post a Motorola g
Pretty much everything in this thread is selling for 100-200 dollars. Pretty good for stuff people threw away few years ago.

I had this phone, it was glorious!
>>54809593
this literally looks like one those old 110 cameras, as if we never advanced camera tech and integrated one into a cell phone.

Never. In case you haven't noticed, most service providers are dropping 2G service completely with AT&T dropping it this year and Verizon being the last to drop it with a planned end year of 2021 along with their 3G service (which companies are also planning on dropping soon).
