any funtoo gnu linux userss on /g/?
thinking of using it
install gentoo
>>54808531
fucking funny as hell!!!!!!
It's a good distro, only problem are some piss old core packages.
Would still install over Gentoo every day desu, it involves a magnitude less USE flag autism.
I've given Funtoo three chances over the years and it has always given me issues that weren't a problem in Gentoo. If you're not doing anything particularly out of the ordinary in your environment, it will probably work fine.
bump for more funtoo experience
I really enjoy it honestly. Once u get all ur software compiled and can actually start using them everything feels a hell of a lot quicker than other distros. Boot timw is insanely fast. Gotta love that OpenRC

If you can't handle constant Gentooposting, just stay off of /g/

I like Funtoo because it takes a firmer stance on the systemd cancer
Still use Gentoo though. What's the most important technical advantage of Funtoo?

literally just installed windows 10 over my encrypted funtoo partition
Installed it about a week ago. It's quite fast for my toaster.

whats the font
also: redpill me on the advantages of funtoo over gentoo.
i thought funtoo was pretty much useless after gentoo switched to git?

You seriously can't follow a guide on how to install Gentoo so you went with an "easier" alternative?
How 3rd world are you?
>>54812481
I don't think there is much difference at all. I just installed it to try it out. I've used gentoo on this machine before. While the system was slightly faster, having to compile everything was a bit of a drag. On funtoo, I can choose pre-compiled packages for firefox, for example. That was a while back though. Things might have changed with gentoo now.
The font is Terminus.

>choosing funtoo over Gentoo
That does not rock!
>too scared to install on PC because I might fuck something up
>installing on laptop would probably take forever
Is the installation process so long mainly because of all the compiling or does it actually require your attention for the most of the duration?
Im scared of these flags everyone keeps talking about

This was one of the times I had installed gentoo on a really shitty laptop. Even that ran fast after waiting a couple days when it was finished compiling.
>>54812603
On funtoo, you don't actually have to compile the kernel. You can choose to use the debian kernel, or compile it yourself. That said, you should compile the kernel yourself at least once for the learning experience. The installation takes long because of the compiling, but it doesn't require you to be at the keyboard the entire time. It's a pretty fun experience compiling the kernel. If you just want to mess around without having to wait, though, just use the debian kernel. It's not hard at all to install gentoo/funtoo. Provided you can follow instructions.
>>54812562
Bro its installs the same way dumby. Its made by gentoos founder. Fuck out of here
>>54808507
I installed it on my laptop recently. Seems pretty similar to Gentoo, although emerge syncs a lot faster (due to using git instead of rsync).
