If you dont have an auto-torrenter already, set it up with transmission, couchpotato and sickrage.

It's incredibly helpful if you have a media-center such as plex.

personally once I got a dedicated plex machine (for 150-200$, able to handle multiple transcoding streams) the pi became completely useless since I just do the automatic torrenting, file sharing and vpn on the dedicated plex machine.

Raspberry pi is only useful if you don't have alternatives.

got mine set up as a retrogaming station, along with Kodi, and a Raspbian Desktop. Share your secrets. I tried the Epiphany browser just today and it constantly froze. Netsurf works well but then it has no js support.

The purpose of single board computers isn't to be used as a general purpose computer. They can do the job in a nutshell, but that's not what they're for.

Do you see those little pins sticking upward on the board, on the opposite side of the HDMI port? Those are called GPIO pins. You can use those to send electrical signals to basically whatever. Hook it up to a breadboard, make an LED light up, or do something more complex like making a home alarm system or some shit. Either way, what you have is a device that can act as a micro-controller, but is a bit more flexible, because it can also communicate over USB and ethernet, and I think wireless as well, and it has a CPU for some general computation if need be.

In any case, why the hell did you buy this thing? I'm going to guess you already have a laptop or a desktop that can do web browsing, so it makes little sense to just buy another machine for the same task, especially given its low specs. Do you buy things just because other people have them and therefore must be cool? If so, you're just as retarded as an Apple user.

Raspberry Pi is worse than Pentium 4.
It's like comparing the speed of Android device with a desktop computer.
If you feel sluggish when you're browsing with P4, Raspberry Pi is even worse.

Just install these images and turn it into a dedicated torrent box with automated scripts. They automate all the installs for you, it's pretty good.

It should be noted that test was done with the original RPi and that the RPi 2 and RPi 3 are both significant improvements over the original RPi with newer quad core processors and 4x the amount of RAM.

you have small, powerful ARM board with gpio pins, you can do anything

build a robot, or better, build small rocket and shoot it in stratosphere, make it take some nice photos and track it down with some usb gps and gsm modem

you can also broadcast radio, there is some kind of wizardy that makes memory frequency blah blah anyway it can vibrate like proper fm transmitter would, i connected it to big antenna and had almost one kilometer of usable range

I use my Pi2 for RetroPie. It runs most of the games I care about at full speed. I also run it with a scanline overlay and it looks pretty authentic.

>NES, SNES, Genesis, PSX
>CPS2, CPS3, most older arcade games

There are some demanding arcade games like the MK series and certain Cave shmups like Mushihime-sama that either don't run or run like complete shit. So it's not perfect, but for most older stuff it's great.
