Kek, quantum computing is trash, because a quantum computer cannot give the right answer to even simple arithmetic like 2+2, only a possibly right one.

Meanwhile entire Australia still runs their Internet connection on dial up.

FIBER TO THE NODE
COPPER TO THE HOUSE

FUCK YEAH AUSTRALIA

This post sponsored by the Australian Government, Canberra.
>>
>>54799163
Strictly speaking, ALL computers only give "possibly right" answers. There is a chance that a digital computer will get a bit flipped somewhere and give the wrong answer. This is why ECC RAM exists.

But it's not for simple arithmetic. For the things they're good at, quantum computers are REALLY good.
>>
>>54799211
I have fiber to the house though, so does my friend.
I have no idea what you're talking about.
>>
>>54799226
>This is why ECC RAM exists
You don't need RAM to add two number together.
>>
>>54799241
He's talking about the NBN, which is now FTTN. Unless you have fiber going from the premise already then your NBN connection (when/if you get it) is just copper to the premise and fiber to the node.
>>
your spiders are still huge and gross pls do something about that first
>>
>>54799271
You COULD have a bit flipped in your CPU while it's performing the computation, I suppose.

Not that that's needed. How do you add two numbers together? Fetch the "add" instruction from RAM, fetch the data from RAM, and perform the computation. Memory is an integral part of every computation.
>>
>>54799285
m8 I'm not retarded, Of course I know he's talking about the NBN.
There is literally a fiber optic cable running from outside through my wall into an NBN connection box inside my house.
On the paper itself I received it even said fiber to the house.
>>
>>54799295
>You COULD have a bit flipped in your CPU while it's performing the computation, I suppose.
Odds of that are extremely low and quantum computer by its nature doesn't even know what state its bits are and whether the result will be correct or not.
>How do you add two numbers together? Fetch the "add" instruction from RAM
>what is ROM
>>
>>54799295
Please write out the longform cohen's d for a modern computer getting 2+2 incorrect vs a perfect logic machine.

My guess is you'll run out of characters in your post before you finish putting in the zeroes.
>>
>>54799380
I'm retarded, could you tell me what the fuck you just said meant?
>>
>>54799380
The quantum computer can be just as accurate. It will just take longer because you'll have to run the program repeatedly.

That's why quantum computers are not used for normal logic.

This is suffering. It took me two hours to upload a youtube video.
It's so slow tonight because I'm torrenting, usually it sits at 110mbps
>>
>>54799460
Damn, download for me is like a quarter of that, but upload is like three times that.

I said that if you already have fiber to the premise then you're good to go, but every existing home that runs copper will only be getting FTTN. That is a vast majority of all Australians. I acknowledged that there are places that have FTTP.

I would gladly trade some of my download for upload. I'd go for 60/10, hell even 40/20 would be great.
>>
>>54799509
Nope.
I was on copper until only about a month or two ago, long after NBN was rolled out here.

Although I live in an apartment and they came out and fitted the whole place with fiber, so it might be a different sort of case there.

You don't know suffering until you paging $8/GB for 3G data because that's all you can get. Speeds on 3g are good, but you don't want that, you can use your entire allowance on a rogue update
>>
>>54799527
Have you thought about changing ISPs? Download speed would be independent of ISP, but I don't know if upload speed would be. It says on the TPG website for the NBN plans $90-110:

>The Superfast speed option has a maximum upload line speed of up to 40Mbps.
>>
>>54799289
Pussy. Never met one who was a match for my thong.
>>
>>54799521
The service is also unreliable and expensive. The speeds aren't the worst part. I have several short (~1 minute) outages on a daily basis.

I did, all they have done was remove the need for near absolute zero temperature environment.
How does that benefit mankind? WTF Nigga!
>>
>>54799572
Entirely depends on your area mate. I'm currently with Telstra, so I can't get anything faster.
It would be a different story if I were on Fiber, I think there's a provider that will give you symmetric 200mbps.

Should I start purging my encrypted loli collection?

Well before there are suitable quantum computers to break current encryption, there will be computers suitable for encrypting things in the future encryption standards.

Why do people bitch so much about a temperature of 0. Just put on warm clothes and you're fine. It can get colder than that in winter and people aren't bitching about it.

Scientists are just a bunch of beta pussies.
