Why the fuck are they so obsessed with "streamlining", viz, removing fucking every useful feature

Normies will never use Linux, all this does is piss off actual linux users
>>
>tray icons on the bottom left in a panel
>no custimization, have to install "extensions" for everything which can break
>gtk3 programs look like fucking smartphone apps on any DE
>adwaita cursors are now part of the adwaita-icons package, can't remove it or it will break anything gtk
Fuck them.

Yeah I know, it sucks. Gnome 2 was actually pretty good. Gnome 3 is just awful.

These days I use XFCE, but I still use some old gnome programs. Thank goodness for projects like Mate for keeping the old, sanely designed versions of gnome programs like 'gedit' alive.
>>
I hope everyone will stop using GTK and port their programs to Qt instead. They're totally ruining everything.
>>
>>54791280
Qt is a much better GUI framework anyways. And I prefer KDE anyways.

Even my normie gf hates using GNOME when she borrows my laptop
If normies did use GNU/Linux, they'd still hate it

It's pretty funny how fashion trends cycle. I wonder if 90s style fake 3D will come back into fashion again.
>>

The thing I don't like about Gnome 3 is that it feels slow. Like there is a delay on every single action, on every single animation. The very idea of desktop environment that is as heavy on your gpu as some random vidya is very retarded. It used to be lightning fast in comparison to KDE, but now it's just a bloated shit. Dafaq happen to this project?

Aye... the final straw was not being able to even ADJUST the fucking mouse sensitivity through mouse settings. Couldn't be arsed to see if it was buried elsewhere. Fuck them.

Installed cinnamon and couldn't be happier.

Fuck gnome and its bunch of useless reprobates.

Loving Gnome 3 desu
Built in google drive functionality and being able to log in to your google account to sync mail, calendars, and files is brilliant

For a truly A+ revolutionary streamlined experience, try using GNOME 3 with multiple monitors.

Gnome actually purposely breaks themes. Their rational is that users are basically walking advertisements. If a user pulls out their laptop and other people around them aren't able to recognize the "iconic gnome look" then it hurts their brand.

It's literally shit.
>>

The reason everyone switched over to 'flat' styles is because it looks more like the web and people want their desktop and web interactions to be similar.

I don't think we'll switch back to fake 3D but I do think there will be changes in style since web design tends to go through all sorts of design trends/phases/memes. Whatever we switch to though will have to also feel natural on a phone/tablet/future mobile device.

>>54792924
That's actually not Material Design. Material Design is a specific design language created by google.

Exposing every possible variable through the settings interface is fucking pointless. You increase the complexity of the interface by a hundredfold, while only 0.001% of your users will ever touch the setting. And that 0.001% can learn to edit a fucking config file. I don't need my desktop environment to resemble fucking Photoshop in its byzantine complexity.

Literally who fucking cares about whether the "drag start time" of your mouse is 3 pixels or 4 pixels?

Gnome has some flaws but it's still most beautiful, polished and modern interface in GNU/Loonix scene. Can't even compare with fuggly KDE, Lxde and other eyesores.

That Gnome apps have turned doesn't make GTK bad too. Actually client-side decoration is useful if used correctly.
