It's very nice if you regulary have to use PC's that are not yours at work or in school and where you don't have admin right. Or if you're visting family/friends and have some apps with you. But not for my main PC.

I use a lot of portable apps on my main machine and laptop, I prefer them as I can sync them from one to the other with a simple copy. Also, when reinstalling the OS I have all my shit just how I left it, no spending hours looking for the latest version of xyz, because portable apps are updated by the (optional) launcher
