Yet another gaymer thread.
>>

Why the fuck would you go near this when the 1080ti is absolutely going to be a thing. Also with the massive jew pricing nvidia is pulling waiting six months is the smart move anyways.
>>
>all that fucking noise
No thanks my man.
>>
My msi 980ti hybrid is pretty fucking quiet.
>>
>>54788141
In a year.

Where do you install the fan for a GPU hybrid.
>>
>>54788177

I put mine on the back where the cpu fan goes since Ive had a cpu all in one water cooler going tot he top of my case for like five years now.

Otherwise I would look for a case that has fans in the side panel. Mine however has some 120mm there already that came with the case.

I have a FT02 case, there is no room for any radiator. Where would I put it? Would it replace the The rear exhaust fan

I'm excited for these GPUs and I don't even play games, they've been suitable for multi-purpose compute for a while now (so long as you don't need FP64).

I got cucked by the 970 meme, are 980Ti's expected to fall in price when the 1080 releases and how soon?

Cus adults only need on-board chip GPUs because all an adults should ever be doing on a pc is txt based work...right kid?

These things run quiet as fuck. Aftermarket coolers with passive fans are quieter when the fans are off, but those run at 60°C in idle and 80 under load.

Is that a quick disconnect on one tube? Do you think EVGA is going to sell prefilled bigger rads or something to connect to it?

DELETE THIS
>>
>>54789375
It was on their roadmap for this year so I'd say yes that is a quick disconnect and they're selling rads.

>watercool core
>leave vrms to fry with a low speed fan as you start pumping more voltage through them for overclocking

This is why AIOs are for shitters. Same thing applies to motherboard - idiots wonder why their ice cool core temps aren't netting them superior overclocking because the vrms are catching fire.
>>
>>54789542
The Gigabyte AIO card will be full block almost certainly. It won't be out at launch though.

Just what kind of a shit rig do you have?
>>
>>54789561
What?
>>
>>54789655
You really shouldn't be calling people shitters when you are so out of touch with modern hardware.
>>
>>54789693
I'm not that guy but I agree with him that VRM temps are a significant factor in OC potential of these GPUs.
>>
>>54788035
Fuck off
>>
>>54789749
Can you explain how?
>>
>>54789787

VRMs are temperature sensitive for their effeciancy. Its why all of the best overclocking cards have 1) loads of vrm phases (assuming quality parts) and 2) are all really well cooled.

Ultimately the vrms are what are feeding power to your core - if they aren't deing kept within a optimum temperature range for a given voltage they will make the core unstable.
>>
>>54789872
Last time I checked vrm efficiency has zero impact on overclocking. As long as they aren't throttling they will perform at 100%, meaning 30c vrms won't yield a higher overclock than 90c vrms.

Unless all of those modern aio vrms hit 120c and throttles with the slightest overclock what the other guy said have no basis and he's just out of touch with modern hardware.
>>
>>54790022

You have to consider most gpus regulate their fans based upon core temperatures - that is what leads to a massive disparity when overclocking. The core stays cool but the vrms are frying as the fan isn't ramping up to cool the extra voltage being fed through them.

Consider this though: the reference 290x pcb has vrms rated to handle 350A at 125c (source: buildzoid)
>>
>>54790306
>are frying

Source?
>>
>>54788426
Wouldn't fit with a CPU heatsink.
>>
>>54790022
You better check again.
>>
>>54790402
Oh I thought you were talking about mounting the gpu radiator.
>>
>>54790374

Tom's hardware tends to be a good source for this on specific cards due to their infrared shots of a card. Some gpu models actually have a sensor on the vrms which makes it easier to see what is going on.

While not directly related this covers what I mean - the core is well below throttling temperature but vrm is scorching hot under overclocked conditions.

You need write more words for an engaging discussion Tommy.

Even the Fury X with the shittiest clc design on the market doesn't throttle.

Not sure about thermal shock though. That's why I don't buy shitty amd products.
>>
>>54790430
You can mount it on the top fan but if you have a big CPU cooler you're fucked.
>>
>>54790570
Oh you're talking about thermal throttling that's why there's confusion. We're talking about maximum overclock potential. As VRM temps go up the power they feed to the chip becomes less stable and can reduce the maximum frequency the chip can run at stably.

I'm not arguing for the sake of arguing, I'm interested because you seem to be saying vrm temperature somehow affects the maximum headroom of a chip. What's the sweet spot? Does headroom decrease linearly as temperatures increase?

It all sounds like pure bullshit to me because I have never EVER read about anything about that. Even guys reaching world records for money cools their vrms with 120mm cheapo fan.
>>
>>54788141
You wouldn't. NVIDIA shills abound.

Wait for AMD to release whatever the hell it is, NVIDIA will drop price, release the ti, and you'll be picking it up for half the price by christmas.

Well he's pumping 1600w through the card.

http://forum.kingpincooling.com/showthread.php?t=3820

So no, headroom is not determined by vrm temperature.
>>
>>54790834

>So no, headroom is not determined by vrm temperature.

Nobody ever said that is the sole (or even) determining factor - especially given a lot of those LN2 benchers solder on their own vrm boards. The claim was vrm temperature is related to overclocking headroom.
>>
>>54790880
well you've yet to provide any convincing evidence so i'm gunna have to chalk it up as bullshit. i'll leave the thread open though so feel free to provide any links proving otherwise. maybe i might learn something interesting on /g/ for once.
>>
>>54790933

A card's bios limits power draw - if the vrms are frying (and thus becoming less effecient) and need more and more power to maintain current then you are going to slam into the bios power limit much sooner.
>>
>>54791046
lmao power limit measures at the destination not the plug you fucking idiot
>>
>>54788035

>>
>>54791224

Why is hybrid better then fully water cooled card?
>>
>>54793063

Because you don't have to spend $1000+ on a custom loop...?
>>
>>54793063
It's not, its just another stupid way for Nvidia to make money off their goys.
>>
>>54793063

Its not.

>>54793081

A custom loop will also cover your cpu as well as the likes of the motherboard or even (if you are retarded) your ram.

Why would my dick be hard about that
>>
>>54793063
It's not "better" it's cheaper and more convenient than having to deal with a full custom loop for those individuals that don't want to set that up.
