If I were setting up a windows computer from scratch I'd install W10. But I'm not. I've got a computer that has had W7 for years and I can't remember all the little tweaks I've done and how horribly organized everything is. All I know is that it's working right now. I disabled Windows Update service a while ago. Because it started automatically restarting my computer (W7) to install updates with no option to delay it further. Had stuff to do, so disabled the service, stopped it from restarting and been like this ever since. I disabled it during a countdown to a forced update but I disabled it for the most part because of the win10 adware and telemetry updates. They added an Iexplore security update with adware as well if I recall. If I can't trust their updates then I prefer just shutting it all down.

That said, I ran a packet sniffer after install and it was talking with M$ servers like mad so I pulled the network cable out, now when I run it I ensure it's completely unconnected to the internet - I am thinking the best option is to ip-range ban everything via router and manually white-list only trusted connections
Also, I tried to uninstall 'Cortana', and it won't let me at all kek
