Daily reminder that buldozer failed because it was ahead of its time

Also burnt several houses down, that is where it got its name.

It's more like the opposite
Everything remotely 3D is limited by floating point performance nowadays
While integer calculations do not limit anything for a long time now
Making a CPU with half the floating point units in hopes developers use integers more is just crazy

You can keep telling yourself that, it doesn't make it true.

Dunno man, for some usage cases the 8350 is damn competitive.
>outperformed by the processors it was meant to replace in numerous benchmarks on release
it's the netburst of the modern age
Even an i3 is better, get over it.
No worries, ZEN will probably fail harder, knowing AMD.
It failed because its die size was fucking huge! No way to make a profit when the wafer produces so few units.

What uses floating point 3D calculations?
Historically, games programmers used fixed-point (i.e. integer) calculations. Has the whole work gone crazy?
I've got an 8350 and I'm still very happy with it. Visual Studio, multiple VMs, and playing a game, all simultaneously with great performance.
