Like you've ever owned a Zotac card, brand whore. Their 980 Ti was one of the best overclockers around and they offer a five year warranty, which is two to three years more than most other companies offer. you only need a hex editor to do it and to flash the bios you need the nvflash utlity which nvidia releases to each vendor and they put in their website so you can update the bios by yourself.

If the power connectors are sunk underneath the cooler you wouldn't be able to press on the clip to remove them, so they'd have to have a cutout in the cooler or something for you to be able to reach them. If the board is under them you wouldn't be able to grab them properly either. It doesn't sound like a good idea, at least if I'm understanding correctly.
