I figure while the botnet is free, I should save up some keys to use in the distant future. I was thinking of installing Windows 10 to virtualbox/VMware, updating and activating it, snagging the key, then wiping it. Rinse and repeat.
Is this a bad idea?

I know jack shit about 10 and haven't cared to upgrade since 7. I know I'll want 10 in the distant future (~2+ years?) for gaming purposes. (i.e. when games actually start using DX12 and onward).

an OEM key for professional windows 10 ( which includes group policy editor - but sadly you cannot disable telemetry like on enterprise ) - costs around 30 usd.

Most likely buy hundreds of them and get discounts, they are legit because they're generated by Microsoft, somewhere some people are priviledged with huge discounts in specific countries - in bulk purchases and trough internet marketplaces you can buy directly the keys from those guys skipping multiple taxes.
It's basically morally ok on Microsoft side, it is _|_ for the countries.
OP here. I can install any cracked version of Window 7 and get the equivalent upgrade to 10 for free. Or should I just download the free copy of 10? What does the free download consist of? Windows 10 starter/home or something cheap?

unless you've literally given your product key away to people, you'll still be able to phone activate it. takes about 3 minutes.
I think some of you guys missed the point here - if you install win7/8/8.1 and crack it, then grab the update to 10 you'll have a licensed Windows. I havent tried to do a clean install afterwards though, but it should technically work as the activation is saved on MS servers if you go online and it should reactivate on the same machine with a clean reinstall.
