Somewhat related note, I thought they should've made a Windows 9 for RT. Didn't get much play, but it'd be good not to burn those customers. It wouldn't run anything not from the store anyways, so software from 98 won't bother it. But I run Linux, so no I don't care either way.

The reason they made it Windows 10 was for marketing. That is the reason that Microsoft does everything it ever does. "Rebranding efforts" and marketing hand-waving instead of consumer-facing innovation. That's the name of the game in Redmond.
