Is there really no better option for a PC chair around $300?

I don't care how it looks, it's just that these chairs are highly functional and seem fairly comfortable.

I know the super high end chairs like steelcase are the best but I don't want to pay that much for a chair.

It's just that the standard $100 leather office chair I currently have is crap overall after only a year and is starting to break.

What do you fuckers sit in?

most of these places have a 30 day return policy anyways right? Was thinking GT omega

Try MicroCenter.

My local one has nice comfy chairs I sat in. I'm getting the one for $150.

All we have are Fry's
>>
>functional
Which functions are you talking about? Counteracting the gravitational attraction between Earth and your ass? I assume you mean it's ergonomic or something.

Anyway I sit in a chair that you'd get at like a furniture store (which is where I got it). Four legs, upholstered. Think of like a nice chair for a posh dinner table. It's perfectly comfortable.

Now I also used to have one of those $100 chairs (actually $60 thanks IKEA) but the faux leather started falling apart and it intermittently starts sinking. I'm not even overweight so basically it's just a piece of shit. But I took the back off, dropped it to the low position it favors anyway and now I use it as a footrest beneath my desk.
>>
is it comfy OP?
>>
You can get an ergonomic mesh of similar quality for ~200 less.
>>
MicroCenter Employee here. the AKRacing chair is actually awesome biuld quality as well as being comfy. and the inland cheapos arent bad but probobly wont last to long comparing the 2

GT omega is $250 ish
>>
>>54747787
I dunno, seems a whole lot of gimmick to me. My busted IKEA chair was height adjustable and reclined, yet always stayed at a regular chair height to match my regular desk. Reclining also sucked without a place to put up my feet, which your space ship chair lacks and yet I now have. It's just a chair. If you get uncomfortable, stand up for a few minutes. It's good for you anyway.
>>
>>54747813
They're all pretty similar, but they seem pretty solid, probably not worth $250, and I already have an old chair I can use a foot rest, my current office chair can't recline.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0Y6G2q0rIM
>>
>>54747855
I've gotta say, I've never understood the appeal of chair arms on a desk chair. The full recline looks pretty neat but I'll be damned if I ever trusted it like he did. Looks way too close to turning him into a quad.
>>
>>54747888
The DX Racer chairs can go beyond 180 degrees if I remember right
>>
I'd recommend you look at local office surplus sellers. They may have steelcase, herman miller,, or haworth chairs for much much less than retail.

I got a Haworth very task with all the upgrades for $200 it is significantly better than any of that racecar chair bullshit.
>>
>>54747900
I think I'll just get some DX Racer sheets for my bed.
>>
the great thing about dxracer type chairs, is they stay reclined with zero user effort. i have not seen another computer chair do that. i have only tried a chair that a friend had and i am reluctant to spend $400 on a chair.
>>
speaking of chairs anyone have a good recommendation I could order off amazon? Maybe around $200 or less. Needs to be Amazon because shipping from elsewhere would be retarded and I have prime.
>>
I bought the cheapest possible DXRacer chair (fabric one) and I find that it's actually really comforable. People like to shit on them because it's too mainstream since every streamer and youtuber shills them but they actually are nice and fairly durable. They are a bit overpriced for what they are but if you don't care about getting the max possible value/$ it's still a decent buy. And you'll find they aren't THAT much more than other chairs of similar shape/build quality (at least here in Canada).

My only complaint is that the plastic on one of the armrests cracked but that's because I lean with my arm in a wierd way and the same thing happened to all my previous chairs aswell.

There are also a few cheap Ikea models that get recommended on here repeatedly in chair threads, those are probably the best value/$ but I've sat in them at department stores and I like my DXRacer better.
>>
Just get a nice office chair from a furniture store instead of buying your furniture from the same place you buy your computer components.
>>
>>54747212
Why would you buy a chair that can explode up your bum? Buy a chair with 4 legs.

You might, MIGHT, be able to find a used Steelcase Leap in good condition for $300 but those usually go for closer to $400-$500 if you want them in pristine condition

Y'all bitches posting in a troll thread.

Buy a used Herman Miller or Steelcase.

If you're too poor to afford a real chair, go get an armless task chair at Office Depot/Max for $100. They won't last, but they're a hell of a lot more comfortable for long periods of sitting and better for you than these meme chairs and executive/high backs.

It is funny a guy is telling me how comfortable the chair I own is after long periods of use and yet it does not match up with my findings..and i own the chair and am posting from after having worked a full day in it..and my back again feels better since I went from my old traditional office style chair I used for yrs.

Why are you so full of shit kid?

I could have afforded any chair I wanted. I make good money. These chairs are not bad at all. Sure some of the colors combos are cringy..but the chair design itself is a good design.

So fuck off and enjoy sitting on your net stretched over a hole and say how great it is because they over charge for it. My ass don't need the venting your fat one does I am betting.

wow..you're parent really did fail with you huh? No, if you think a snug seat design makes a desk look like a care..then you have some other issues to deal with it appears. A lot of the higher end designs use mesh, but generally don't have a totally mesh bottom, i.e. you're sitting on padding, see the prince of office chairs the Aeron for an example.

I'm pretty tall/skinny and live and work in places with AC so I never get sweaty while sitting but the mesh is much nicer than, say this abomination: >>54754380

I felt that I could spend an extra $100 on my next chair. What ya got in mind?

Pretty much what everyone else in this thread is suggesting:

Go to an office surplus store and get a decent chair or find one on CL if it is possible in your area.
>>
>>54747212
You can get a Steelcase for around 300 on Craigslist /Gumtree and it is so worth it to do so rather than a dx racer meme

Do you think companies buy 2000 usd monitoring chairs for cubicle farms
>>
I have a Haworth Zody, great chair.
>>
>>54761101
Chairs, matresses, and pillows are such a bullshit market. The good stuff is horrendously expensive because so few people buy it instead of buying cheap shit that's awful for them. It doesn't help that there's also a huge amount of equally expensive but actually just bullshit products making it impossible to find the good shit to begin with.

Where did you buy the chair?

I have one of these chairs, a DXracer. It started falling apart after about 2 years like every other chair I buy. They're not as great as you might think.

Buy a used aeron or some other ergonomic chair. I saw aerons for $200 on my local craigslist once. Just be on the lookout.

I guess more reason not to spend the extra on it and get an Inland racer chair instead. Thanks.

Yeah, the chair industry seriously needs to get its ass kicked.

Greed ruined office chairs just like how Greed ruined glasses considering the scumbags behind designer frames fooling people into think Raybans are worth 150 dollars when it costs just fucking 2 dollars to make them.

Can the back angle be adjusted independently from the seat? This is very important for me.

>>54755467
I am about to return a second chair to Staples, after returning another one two weeks ago. I don't understand how their selection if chair is done. It's like they must all have at least 2-3 design flaws to make their cut.
>>
>>54747212
How come I never heard of anyone from /g/ buying office chairs from Costco?

I doubt any other company has a better return policy than Costco.

Somewhat decent chair I bought 6 years ago with high school graduation money. The hydraulic went out within like 2 years so I went to:

www.chairsaver.com

and it worked as advertised. I sit on a pillow because my fat ass has compressed all the memory foam on the bottom. The chair saver is totally worth 20 bucks.

What price range are you buying? I went to a local Staples and tested most of their shit. The ones that look compfy were not. I actually had to sit in each of them.

Just traded my PS4 to my friend for his Herman Miller Aeron.
Did I goof or did he?

>>
>>54761681
You should call and see if the warranty on your friend's Aeron expired or not.

Also, for people of /g/ who actually own an Aeron or actually talked with a Herman Rep in person, they say the Embody is better and more comfortable than the Aeron.

I don't know it this is true or false, though, but both the Embody and Aeron are produced by the same company.

The Aeron gets shilled a lot more online, though.

I guess in the end, if you have the money, you should go to a store or warehouse and check which Herman Miller chair fits you best.

Are you afraid every time you go visit the dentist if you are scared of these chairs?
>>

Not the chair sempai(nice 7's by the way) but the dangerous ornaments that hang above.

Hmm should I get a used Steelcase that some office slave shit their pants in? Or go for a brand new DXracer with shiny synthetic leather which still smells like the chinese factory it was made in?

I'm probably going to buy a used Steelcase on ebay. My work has them and they're amazing.

for $300 you can buy a fucking Lay-Z-Boy recliner that swivels, and has rollers on it you fucking idiot

no amount of ergonomics is going to increase the blood flow to your legs while sitting

also its a fucking car seat on wheels and i can tell by the design the foam/cushon is unreplaceable, meanwhile pretty much every aspect of a recliner can be adjusted specifically to fit your body and replaced
>>
>>54763718
I highly recommend against taking chairs left on the sides of roads.

You severely underestimate the reason why people throw away chairs.

You wouldn't want any bedbugs or other pests to enter your home via a chair of unknown origins you just happened to find on the road.
>>
>>54761589
yes it can.
>>
>>54764343
Are you shitting me? Any upholstery shop could replace the foam in a car seat. Auto upholsters do it every fucking day.

And just what lazy boy has micro adjustments? The fuckers recline, usually with a leg rest that pops out.(just great at a desk huh?) and swivel and rock..and they are built to hold fat people with remote holders and drink holders often built into them. You serious?
>>
>>54757074
It's a fucking chair, who cares if it's boring besides white girls and gaymers
>>
>>54761386

But thats an unrealistic price, you can get them from time to time from furniture stores for 1000€ if they are on sale. Not cheap but its not the usual "gaymer" dx racer crap. You get what you pay for.
>>
get some kind of managers chair. way more comfortable than some gaymer marketed bs chair that looks like your virginity has sprouted to adult life.
>>
>>54747767
>intermittently starts sinking

The seals in the air cylinder wore out. It will happen to every cylinder on every chair given enough time and use, but leaning at weird angles or flopping when you sit in it will accelerate the inevitable.

You can replace the cylinder for like $25 and only need a pipe wrench.

But you are right, a non-desk chair is a perfectly valid option that shouldn't be ignored.
>>
> Is there really no better option for a PC chair around $300?

buy a cheap chair you like the visual look of, and it the right dimensions, and then take it to an upholsterer to put quality foam in it.
