Any resources i can use to start getting into neural networks? Everything I find is either simplified for mass consumption to the point that they don't explain anything or jumps right into complex math. Is there any middle ground or am I basically fucked until I take linear algebra?

You will need linear algebra and probably Stochastics to do anything non-babby-tier without handholding.
Obviously you're welcome to work through tutorials and copy-paste the parts you don't understand, but when something doesn't behave as expected you'll have no way to fix it.

I don't understand how people do anything without linear algebra honestly
as simple as it gets http://arxiv.org/pdf/cs/0308031.pdf

Ah, I was beginning to fear that. Hopefully I'll be able to take it soon.

Thanks for the links but until I get the math behind it it'll probably just be background info for me. I'll see what I can get out of them

They don't. It is almost impossible to do backpropagation without the use of linear algebra.
