Because I don't have autism and my phone had a better SoC and bigger battery. It pretty much does everything a smartwatch does and more.

This guy's project runs ~5 days between charges.
He pieced it together with a custom board and shit you can buy on ebay.

Arduino code is online and it costs ~70€
With adafruit products...
I planed to build it but meeh time and meeh money.

I used to live with a house full of people like this
I would legit buy one with an android apk and some water resistance.
The pebble screen and interface is too limiting, just push all the interface to the phone where it should be.
