Why do people use this shit? How do people justify using an OS that has ads built in?

The other day I asked a friend why he used a torrent client full of ads (latest uTorrent) when there were alternatives without them, and he got all defensive and pissed off because I was suggesting "BETTER PROGRAMS".
I also have another friend who's very into Youtube stuff and he watches full ads and doesn't even bat an eye. He says since he doesn't watch TV he doesn't mind ads in his computer.
Normalfags just aren't bothered by advertising, apparently.
