He absolutely should be in WoW. Even a 6700K at 4.6GHz isn't enough for a locked 1080p/60fps in Warspear. I get drops to ~50fps when it's busy. They're upgrading the graphics again with Legion too. Shame the underlying engine will still be ancient and incapable of using more than a couple of threads.

The only real performance boost you will get with the i7 vs i5 is the higher clock speeds. That said, I didn't think that was worth it and have an i5 myself.

The 6600k will be fine. Only reason im still not using my 4670k is because I got a great deal on a 5820k and my old ass i5 650 was dragging on server duty. It is now relegated to a HTPC box alongside my ancient 8800 Ultra awaiting the GTX 460 transplant from the server. Maybe ita finally time for me to start junking some of my old hardware before im swimming in it.

Intel does that better than AMD. More cores don't mean shit if the CPU is bad altogether. Most AMD CPUs are exactly that.

my fx8350 works fine for me, I bought it because in my country intel mobos and cpus are much more expensive, like 50%-100% more expensive overall
the only games that run poorly in it are bethesda games, but it's not that bad.
That said, if you live in a non third world shithole, then go with intel because there's no real reason not to.
