I plan on dual booting my Windows XP with Linux or just replacing XP at this point) Until my new computer comes in. Any recommendations?

OpenSUSE is a great choice. But Mint or lmde2 is way easier for beginners.
I use OpenSUSE for servers and lmde2 for clients.
Everyone in this thread is a faggot besides you and me, OP, and that's why you should choose Ubuntu MATE.

Linux Mint is objectively the best for people switching over from Windows.

Xubuntu, Lubuntu, and Mint.
Don't go for OpenSUSE or Fedora.
