MSI has been making some portable workstation stuff, less gaymer-y crap with decent specs and good build quality.
Maybe a decent Dell or Acer if you're on a budget.
To be honest, laptops today in a regular persons price range are kinda shit.
Old stuff was built to last, as computer technology has been changing much faster than before, quality has gone down because the companies know people will buy new shit every year anyway.
