is the "keeping your plug after battery is at 100% will damage battery capacity" meme legit?
pic unrelated
Maybe with ni-mh, but not with lithium.
Your phone will explode on your nightstand and you will die.

Only if your device doesn't have circuitry that cuts off the charge after the battery is full. Or on the off-chance that the circuitry fails.

how do I check that

Your device either explodes or not

Does your device say the charge percentage? if so then it has that capability.

This used to be the case with some shitty chargers (not all) 20 years ago. Nowadays its a meme passed down by those who don't know the original problem is long since fixed.

even cheap and nasty NiMH AA chargers these days are generally just fine in this regard. decent onces have always been fine.

To debunk your low thoughts. Li-ion technology suffers from overcharging more than nimh. There are metalic bridges created and it lose capacity this way. Best for li-ion is about 50%of its charge for long storage. This effect is well known for both manufacturers, battery and charger (e.g.cellphone) so thats why your status led lights green from 90% above and then charging rappidly slows down.
My pleasure.
